Resident Evil 3: How to Skip Cutscenes & Dialogue

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Sometimes you just want to forget about the story and just get straight back into the action. That’ll ring especially true for those who played the original Resident Evil 3 all those years ago, or those playing through again for an S-Rank. In these instances, you’ll want to just skip cutscenes and any dialogue and press through with the action. Here’s how to skip cutscenes in Resident Evil 3.

To skip any cutscenes, press the Options button on PS4 or Menu button on Xbox One and then press Square or X respectively.

This will immediately end the cutscene and force the game to load up the next bit of action. It’s worth noting that there are actually a fair few cutscenes in the game, but a lot of the shorter ones aren’t story-based, so you don’t really need to watch them.

For example, there will be times when Jill is examining a machine or an object that she can use to help her survive in Raccoon City. It doesn’t add anything to the story, it just looks prettier and retains your focus better than simply having Jill say something while you’re still in control.

These can also be skipped, which we’d recommend you do over the more story-focused cutscenes in subsequent playthroughs.

For your first playthrough, however, we’d recommend not skipping anything and enjoying Resident Evil 3’s remake as Capcom intended.

Load times following cutscenes are very fast though, so you shouldn’t be waiting too long to dive into the action one you skip a cutscene.

You can also use this method to skip the credits at the end of the game if you’re in a rush or just don’t want to sit through them for a good few minutes.
