What BOB Stands For in Overwatch
Ashe might be the newest hero to join the ranks of Overwatch, but she isn’t alone. Apart from her trust gun and sticks of dynamite, she can also call in her beefy omnic buddy – BOB. Here’s what BOB stands for in Overwatch.
This omnic outlaw first made his appearance in the cinematic short “Reunion” alongside McCree, Ashe, and the rest of the Deadlock Gang. He’s one of the gang’s founding members and is also Ashe’s right-hand man.
While everyone just calls him by his name, BOB is actually an acronym for Big Omnic Butler or Big Omnic Bodyguard. This name actually ties in with his lore, since he originally started out as Ashe’s personal steward.
He was pretty much her caretaker and only family, seeing as how Ashe’s parents hardly paid her any attention. The two have been together since she was a child, and he’s been supporting Ashe in all of her life choices, apparently.
In Overwatch, he serves as Ashe’s ultimate ability. When she has her meter build, she’ll call on her omnic pal to cause some ruckus on the battlefield. Interestingly enough, he acts as the seventh member on your team and can be healed, stunned, bashed, flashbanged, nano-boosted – pretty much anything you can do to a normal hero.
Throwing BOB out on the field is also a great way to stall objectives thanks to his large health pool and powerful firepower. He acts sort of like a turret who will stay in place, shooting any enemy he finds on the battlefield.
The omnic butler will still in place for 12 seconds or until the enemy team destroys him. Since he’s such a great sentry, Overwatch players will want to place him near chokepoints or objective points to make the most out of this ability. You can also combo the ultimate ability with Zarya’s Graviton Surge or Reinhardt’s Earthshatter, as the enemy team won’t be able to hide or retaliate.
If you’re aiming for Ashe’s personal achievements, you’ll need to use her ultimate ability to complete one. Once BOB launches an enemy in the air, you’ll have to kill an enemy while they’re still up.
That’s pretty much everything you need to know about BOB and what it stands for. If you’re looking for more tips and tricks on Ashe and Overwatch, be sure to search for Twinfinite. We’ve got plenty of other guides to help you learn the hero.
