Is Octopath Traveler Coming to Xbox One?

Update 04/14/21: Octopath Traveler is now available on Xbox One. It came to Xbox Game Pass on March 25.

Octopath Traveler, the upcoming JRPG from Square Enix and Acquire, is a rare non-Nintendo developed RPG exclusive for the Switch. Sure, in the Super Nintendo days, Nintendo was flush with RPG exclusives from third-party developers, but now (in this generation anyway), the PS4 has been where many exclusive RPGs have landed. That said, Nintendo fans have lots of reason to be excited because Octopath Traveler looks great so far, and it won’t be long (July) before we see how the eight different stories featured will play out.

If you’re here, you’re probably wondering if Octopath Traveler is ever going to come to Xbox One. The platform could certainly use some more RPG love, and it would be great for Xbox fans if Octopath released there, too. Unfortunately though, as far as we know, there are no plans to bring the game anywhere other than the Switch.

If you’re pulling for a port then, we would keep expectations low. The game is being published by Nintendo, and they would likely have the ability to kibosh any potential ports if they wanted to.

Sorry if that wasn’t the news you wanted to hear, but hey, at least you know now and can move knowing what the deal is.
