No Man’s Sky: How to Get Zinc and What it Does

Zinc – No Man’s Sky

Recommended Videos

Zinc is one of the Oxide Elements that you’ll be able to mine in No Man’s Sky. Being an Oxide, it’s used to power up shields, and does a much better job than Iron at keeping your stuff all topped off. It’s also used in some blueprints and can be sold for around 40 Units a pop.

Of course, before doing any of that stuff, you’re going to have to collect some Zinc first. Zinc can be found both on and off planets, you just need to know where to look. On planets it’s found in weird yellow plants. Scanning the surrounding area (press L3) will highlight them as yellow and white icons. Just follow them and hopefully they’ll lead you to these flowers rather than some other Oxide.

Rocks with a slight greenish tint seem to also provide this resource. The same can be said of asteroids with the same color and certain crystals in space. If all else fails, or if you need a lot more than you can find, you can always buy some on the Galactic Market.
