Skills and Chips – NieR: Automata
2B can equip different skills and abilities in the game, and players can also play around with the HUD by messing around with the android’s chips. First off, all abilities can only be accessed by going into the main menu and checking the Skills tab. From here, choose the Chips option to check your currently equipped chips, as well as all of the ones you have available.
Skills like Auto-Item and Auto-Evade count as chips as well, and you’ll have to make memory space for them if you want to equip those. Memory space can be checked on the right-hand side of the screen. However, do note that Auto-Item is the only available chip on normal difficulty. The rest of the chips, like Auto-Evade and Auto-Fire, can only be accessed on easy difficulty. If you want to use those to make your life easier in the game, you’ll have to lower the difficulty.
In addition to that, the various chips also allow you to choose what you want to see in the game’s UI and HUD. There are designated chips for your HP gauge, minimap, as well as damage counters. Feel free to remove these as you see fit to make room for other chips you might want to use. Just don’t remove the OS chip at all costs. The description of the OS chip states that it’s required for your android to stay alive and continue functioning. Remove it, and you’ll die. They’re serious about that dying part.
