Is Middle-earth: Shadow of War PS4 Pro Compatible?

Recommended Videos

Middle-earth: Shadow of War has finally arrived for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. And, of course, with the more powerful PS4 Pro now available on store shelves, many will be wondering if Monolith Productions makes the most of Sony’s supercharged system. Well, it turns out that there’s some good and bad news on that front.

The good news is that, yes, Middle-earth: Shadow of War will make use of the PS4 Pro. Unfortunately, if an interview from back in June is anything to go by, it may not run at a 4K resolution. Speaking to GamingBolt, Monolith’s Design Director Bob Roberts, revealed that, while Shadow of War runs great on PS4 Pro they couldn’t “guarantee” it’d run at a 4K resolution. Roberts’ full comments on Shadow of War’s PS4 Pro compatibility were, “We’re still optimizing for that. Obviously it’s more powerful than the base PS4. The specs aren’t quite as high as the X. But I think we can still get most of the graphics. Things that we’re still trying to pull off. It will still have HDR. I think we’ll still have 4K but I can’t guarantee that right now. I think we’re still optimizing.”

As such, it remains somewhat unclear as to whether or not Shadow of War will run at a 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro, but it certainly sounds like it’ll feature a smoother framerate and more detailed visuals, too. As soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know.
