Mass Effect Andromeda: Best Armor (Combat, Tech, Biotics, Survivability)

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

You have a lot of defensive options in Mass Effect: Andromeda and that can make it difficult to choose. Here are sets of the best armor you can get. They’re the best Mass Effect Andromeda armor for combat, tech, biotics, or survivability.

Just like weapons are important for dishing out damage to the evil Kett and other ne’er-do-wells in the Heleus Cluster, solid armor is needed to survive the threats you’ll face while playing Mass Effect: Andromeda. There are a surprising amount of options, and with the four slots (Helmet, Arms, Chest, and Legs), you can mix and match to try and get the perks best suited for your playstyle.

Across the various technologies you’ll notice the same perks pop up such as Power Duration, Max Shields increase, Damage increases, and more. However, some sets offer higher versions of those perks than others. We’ll cover the best for all types of users (Combat, Biotics, and Tech) so you can see which sets you should look out for.

Best Mass Effect Andromeda Armor For Combat

For those who love to get in there with their guns and utilize Combat Powers, you’ll want high defense, increased Weapon Damage, and perhaps something that bolsters your already potent powers. There are a few options that are perfectly suited for this.

Kett Unity – This armor is all about Combat. It increases both your Power Damage and Weapon Damage, allowing you to quickly dispatch any enemy foolish enough to get in your way. It’s not the prettiest set, so you’ll be running around looking like a Kett, the target of your ire, but it’s useful.

Kett Fusion – Unity can sometimes be hard to come by, but you can craft Fusion armor fairly early in the game, and it has the same perks. It just looks a bit different (I personally prefer Unity’s more chunky appearance).

Maverick Deadeye – This is more for long-range fighters (those who like Sniper Rifles and Assault Rifles). Each piece of this set increases Headshot/Weak Point damage bonuses as well as provides extra spare ammo. So you’ll be able to snipe enemies faster and take more shots before scavenging for ammunition.

Heleus Defender – This is a two-piece set that you can craft, but it’s one of the best armor sets in Mass Effect: Andromeda (though not the best looking). It increases all Power Damage, Weapon Damage, and Damage Resistance. We have it under Combat, but honestly, it’s great for any player. It also has four augmentation slots in the chest piece (two in the head) to add a few extra bonuses more geared towards abilities you like to use.

Best Mass Effect Andromeda Armor For Tech

Tech Powers focus more on exploiting enemy weaknesses, using constructs (such as turrets), and traps. The skills are great for mid to long-range fighters as they help to keep you safe by holding off enemies. For players who like these particular abilities, the best armor would focus on recharging them quickly while also increasing their potency.

Angaran Guerrilla – This is a craftable option under the Heleus Technology tab in the Research & Development terminal. The set ups Tech Power Damage and Duration while also increasing your Max Shields. The Chest piece also increases Tech Construct Damage which can be very useful for players who love turrets and Remnant VI. What makes Guerrilla even better, though, is that since it’s craftable you can further augment it to be a sort of hybrid armor, adding perks for other abilities as well. Or, you can just bolster the already Tech-focused buffs.

You can find the Guerrilla set out in the wild under the names Commando and Ranger. They offer the same base perks, though you may randomly find one with something extra. So if you see those and are short on Research Data, pick them up and use them.

Best Mass Effect Andromeda Armor For Biotics

Biotics tend to place players in the middle of all the action where they’ll often find themselves surrounded by enemies. Anything that increases shields, Biotic Power Damage, and Biotic Recharge Speed should be a priority for players who prefer these abilities.

N7 – You won’t find any of this out in the wild, so you should save up your Milky Way research to unlock the highest tiers of this set. Its base perks increase Biotic Power Damage and Max Shields, which are both very useful. The chest piece offers a substantial boost to recharge speed, as well. You can augment it for extra perks (mine has increased melee power and Tech recharge) to tailor it, but it’s a great Biotics set either way.

Best Mass Effect Andromeda Armor For Survivability

Some players are fine with their damage output and the rates at which their abilities recharge. Instead, they either struggle with staying alive or want to be even more of a juggernaut (perhaps so they could keep up with Drack). There are a few armor sets that really focus on just helping you stay alive for a little longer.

Remnant Heritage – This set is all about staying alive. It offers Damage Resistance and increased regeneration for both Health and Shields. The chest piece reduces the delay on region by a substantial amount as well, helping to ensure that you always have protection when you need it most. You can find Remnant armor out in the wild, but we highly recommend crafting it instead. This way you can bolster its abilities with some power recharging as well making you a true force on the battlefield.

Hyper Guardian – This is found under the Milky Way tab in Research & Development. It increases your Health and Shields, and the chest adds a heavy boost to melee damage. That makes it a great choice for those of you who hate firearms but have trouble staying alive. We’ve never located one in the wild, so since you have to craft one, try giving it Augments that raise its recharge rates like the Remnant gear.
