Everything You Need to Know About Peppers, Coconuts & Bananas in Fortnite

As part of Fortnite’s v8.20 patch, Epic has introduced peppers, coconuts, and bananas into the game as usable items. Each one of these has a different effect on your health, shield, or movement, and are found in various different places. Here’s where to find peppers, coconuts, and bananas in Fortnite and what they all do.

Where to Find Peppers in Fortnite & What They Do

Fortnite peppers

Let’s start off with this spicy number. Peppers are a little less health-focused than their fruity counterparts. Once you’ve found these, simply press X/ Square/ E/ Y to consume it.

Every time you eat a pepper, you’ll gain 5 health instantly and your movement speed will be increased by 20%. It’s worth noting that this movement buff will only last for 10 seconds.

Still, this makes peppers pretty handy for escaping the storm or a battle in a hurry if you’re really struggling for health. Besides, who doesn’t like 5 health?!

To find peppers in Fortnite, you’ll need to head to the desert biome in the southeast section of the map. In terms of where peppers spawn, it appears to be fairly random. You don’t need to knock down trees or anything to find them, they’ll just appear on the floor.

We found a handful of them just north of Westworld/ Mexico in the south of the desert biome under a tree, as you can see in the screenshot above.

Where to Find Bananas in Fortnite & What They Do

Bananas are arguably the least exciting addition to Fortnite in terms of these new consumable items. Consuming one of these will grant you 5 health, just as apples do, too.

In terms of where you can find bananas in Fortnite, according to the patch notes, these can be found in the tropical biome. This is in the northeast section of the map, where the volcano, Sunny Steps, and Lazy Lagoon are. From our experience, bananas can be found in bunches near or around trees, as you can see in our screenshot above.

It’s worth noting, though, that they don’t seem all that common and tend to appear under the tropical-looking palm trees more than any other. If you’re looking for a guaranteed spawn point, head to the hill just east of Sunny Steps, and we found a bunch on the floor here, as you can see in the screenshot.

Where to Find Coconuts & What They Do

Coconuts are the best new consumable in our opinion to land in Fortnite as part of the v8.20 update. Coconuts grant 5 points of ‘effective health’ in a very short space of time.

The ‘effective health’ part basically means that if you’re at full health, it’ll grant you 5 shield, and if you’re lacking 5 health, it’ll give you that. Health is always prioritized, essentially.

You’ll need to knock coconuts out of palm trees by dealing damage to them with your pickaxe, or any other weapon for that matter. We found that coconuts tended to only drop to the floor after the tree had sustained significant damage, though. You can see what palm trees look like in the screenshot above.

As coconuts are found by knocking them out of palm trees, you can only find them in the tropical and desert biomes where these kinds of trees spawn. Once you’ve found a palm tree and knocked it, if you’re lucky, you’ll see one or two coconuts drop to the ground.

You’re not guaranteed to have coconuts drop from every palm tree you come across in Fortnite, so don’t be surprised if a few that you knock down don’t give you a couple.
