How to Get Oil in Forager
With so many materials to find and skills to learn in Forager, it’s no wonder it’s a bit unclear how to get oil and what you need to do to get it.
Necessary to progress further in the game, Oil can only be gained by using specific structures to drill into the earth and procure it from deposits.
With it, you can make plastic goods which can then lead to the production of more items, further expanding your empire of resource extraction.
It has a fair few steps you have to go through to obtain it though, so we’ve laid them out as clearly as possible for you.
What You Need to Get Oil
To get Oil in Forager, you’ll first need to unlock the Drilling skill from the Skills menu. This costs one skill point and will allow you to build Off-Shore Drills to harvest oil.
Once you’ve unlocked the skill, you’ll then need to construct an Off-Shore Drill. This will require five steel and 20 bricks, as well as a sizable patch of water – roughly 5×5 tiles or more – to craft it on.
Once you’ve gained all the necessary materials and find a good spot, you can build it by going to the Build menu and selecting the Drill for construction.
After this, you’ll need to produce as many bottles as possible. These are used to store the oil brought up by the drill, and it can’t harvest materials if you don’t have any bottles on hand.
Fortunately, once you have a nice stockpile of bottles, you’ll be able to harvest oil without issues for the foreseeable future.
