Getting Blood Punch in Doom Eternal

As with most other weapons and abilities in the game, Doom Eternal’s Blood Punch is earned after you progress to a certain point in the story.

After beginning the second story mission, titled “Exultia,” you’ll be guided through an ancient stronghold by a spirit wolf until you reach a yellow gauntlet power-up housed in a cage under a statue.

The spirit wolf will guide you to the rear of the cage where there’s an opening. Go inside and walk over the power-up, and you’ll gain the enhanced melee ability.

How to Use Blood Punch

As for what the Blood Punch does in Doom Eternal, it’s best to think of it as a boosted melee attack.

Every time you execute a Glory Kill on an enemy, you’ll gain some charge toward a Blood Punch. Once fully charged, you can execute the ability by using the melee attack button – R3 on PlayStation 4, RS on Xbox One and so forth.

This will trigger a powerful melee attack that will destroy weaker enemies while also sending out a shockwave which damages any enemies in your near vicinity. It can be used multiple times in an encounter too, so be sure to execute as many glory kills as you can to keep recharging it.

How to Make It Stronger in Doom Eternal

There are also ways to make the Blood Punch more powerful in Doom Eternal, though it works a bit differently than it does for upgrading other weapons and abilities.

As you progress further into the game, you’ll unlock upgrades for the ability after key encounters. For example, after defeating the Doom Hunters in the fourth level, your Blood Punch will gain a more powerful shockwave.

Continue progressing through the campaign, and before long, the ability will be one of the more noteworthy death-dealing methods in your arsenal.
