How Long Is Destiny 2 and How Many Missions There Are
Destiny 2 is finally here and it’s a pretty massive game when it comes to content, especially when you compare it to its predecessor’s launch. With that being said, many are wondering just how long they can expect to play Destiny 2 and that really depends on what it is you want out of the game, though you do have plenty of options.
When it comes to story, there are 15 missions, and it will take around  8-10 hours to complete them all (a bit longer depending on how you are with leveling up since some parts are gated). The story is full of action, so it’s a pretty wild ride from beginning to end, culminating in an awesome encounter.
However, that’s not all that Destiny 2 has to offer. There are Adventures on all planets, side quests that can only be done once but offer more story, lore, and great rewards. Add to that the over 50 Lost Sectors available in Destiny 2Â at launch and the various Public Events and simple exploration can eat up dozens of your hours with ease.
Also, on the PvE side of things are Strikes. There are five of these to fight through (six if you’re playing on PS4). Think of these as mini-raids that you can bring two other players into as you seek to take out a powerful boss
A lot of your time will be spent preparing for a challenge set to release next week, the raid. This is an end game activity built for the best Guardians out there. As such, you’ll easily find yourself piling on the hours in preparation for what lies ahead.
Keeping you coming back after you beat Destiny 2’s story are Call to Arms and Flashpoints, weekly activities that reward players in Crucible and exploration respectively.
Speaking of Crucible, there is plenty of content on that side as well. You have various modes (Clash, Survival, Supremacy, Control, Countdown) as well as a solid selection of maps. In the near future, there will also be Trials and Iron Banner, which each offering end game level gear to the best warriors out there in Destiny 2.
And let’s not forget all of the different exotics there are to collect.
To put it shortly, there is a lot of content to get through in Destiny 2, but how much time you get out of it really depends on you. If you just want to do everything at least once, you’re looking at around 40-50 hours easily. But, as is the case with many loot-centric games, that can be a lot more if you want to grind for the best gear, max Power, and any other hidden gems. So if you’re looking for something you can pour 100+ hours into, there’s certainly enough incentive here to do so.
