Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is finally just about here and players will be able to enjoy an old-school Crash Bandicoot experience that is more in line with the original trilogy of games on the PS1 than what came out afterwards. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering if Crash 4 has any online multiplayer gameplay. Here’s what you need to know.
Online Multiplayer in Crash 4
Long time fans of the Crash Bandicoot series likely already know that the series has dabbled with multiplayer in the past. However, the only game to really feature any significant online multiplayer is the recently released Crash Team Racing remaster which was updated to feature online multiplayer and other modern features.
Crash 4 takes its queues from the original PS1 trilogy, and thus, barring any launch day surprises, there won’t be any online co-op.
Crash 4 is primarily a single-player experience, and its multiplayer components will be local and splitscreen only. Even these modes appear to just be a fun way to experience Crash 4 with friends, and aren’t a significant or serious part of the experience.
That said, it is possible that Crash 4 could be updated to have online gameplay in the future. The developers have said nothing of the sort, but, CTR has received support after launch. It wouldn’t be completely crazy to think that Crash 4 could as well.
That said, we wouldn’t hold our breath about online multiplayer coming to Crash 4 until the developers say that it’s coming themselves.
That’s all you need to know about online multiplayer in Crash 4. Sorry we had to be the bearer of bad news on this one but hopefully you got the answer you were looking for. For more on Crash 4, you can check out our latest coverage right here.
