Go After Objectives

Recommended Videos

Battlefield 1

Unless you’re playing team deathmatch, Battlefield 1 is first and foremost an objective-based game. Because of this fact, it’s in yours and your team’s best interest to focus on the objectives, especially in modes where the attackers have a limited number of lives. It’s all well and good to rack up a few kills now and again, but to succeed you’ll need to capture points, flags, pigeons or whatever else it may be.

By and large focusing on objectives and capturing points is going to lead to more points for you, and in turn more experience. Thus, this is only beneficial to you.

Use Classes to Adapt to Situations

Battlefield 1

You’ll undoubtedly find a class that you prefer playing in Battlefield 1, but it’s important to build each of your classes and use them to adapt to different situations in battle. You can set your equipment in each class, to be used for specific situations. Use an engineer as either a tank fixer or tank destroyer by equipping anti-tank grenades as mines, and switch to that class when the enemy brings in the armor. You can use the assault class when you need an extra boost to storm a tight enemy control point and take it over.

Switch to recon when you’re on defense, and find a good point to take out a few enemies. Maybe most important of all, don’t be afraid to switch to the medic and help revive your team if they’re getting decimated. Don’t let yourself get locked into playing one class, and use each to your advantage.

Learn How to Use Gas and Smoke Grenades

Battlefield 1

A new addition to Battlefield 1 is the gas grenade, a deadly device that kills enemies in its vicinity with choking gas. It’s important for you to learn how to use these and smoke grenades to your advantage so you can rack up the kills. Gas grenades are particularly useful to throw in choke points, or cramped spaces that have enemies bunched up defending a point.

Every soldier, of course, has a gas mask to protect themselves, but a quickly thrown gas grenade can easily eliminate a couple enemies while filling the area with blinding smoke. This will allow you to rush in, pop to the ground and do your best to take some of them out. Smoke grenades function on the same principle, just without the deadly gas. You can also use a couple smoke grenades to help cover your advance when rushing over open areas to the enemy trenches.

Work With Your Squad

Battlefield 1

Your squadmates are you best friends in Battlefield 1. You should try and consistently keep an eye on their whereabouts, and try to coordinate attacks with them. Of course, the squad leader will be in charge of issuing orders and trying to coordinate attacks as well. Respawning on your squadmates is a valuable tool to get your right back in the action, but make sure to watch the map before you spawn to make sure you aren’t being dropped into the line of fire, only to immediately die again.

Working with your squad isn’t just smart and useful for taking objectives, you’ll also get more points by healing, resupplying, or assisting your squadmates. Basically, it’s just mutually beneficial for everyone to work together.

Focus On Taking Down Behemoths

Battlefield 1

Behemoths are humongous machines of destruction like a Blimp or Armored Train, that can rain down destruction upon an enemy team. If you’re on the receiving end of a Behemoth, however, it can be quite difficult to deal with its barrage on top of the rest of the enemy forces. For this reason, it’s imperative that you focus your efforts on bringing down the Behemoth, so you’re team can throw their full force on defending or attacking the objectives.

Switch to your best armor fighting class, and make sure to pull out anti-tank mines, rocket guns, mines, and anything else you might have. If you coordinate attacks with your team, you should be able to make relatively short work of a Behemoth.
