Meet the Voice Actors of Death Stranding Voice Cast

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Death Stranding, the highly anticipated next game from famed video game developer Hideo Kojima, is yet another big time PlayStation 4 exclusive on the way this year. Its gameplay and story is still a bit mysterious but what is more known are the voice actors that make up the voice cast of Death Stranding. Let’s break down who is voicing who in Death Stranding.

Editor’s Note: While you’re here to learn who the voice actors are, it’s worth noting that all of the characters here also are acting and preforming motion capture for their roles as well.

Meet the Voice Actors of Death Stranding Voice Cast

Norman Reedus – Sam

We all know about the bromance between Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus. The two were supposed to be working together on PT AKA the Silent Hills reboot. When that got axed, the two took their ball and went over to Sony to create Death Stranding together instead.

Norman Reedus plays Sam in Death Stranding, the game’s main character as he tries to make a very screwed up world right again. He’s best known for his role in The Walking Dead as Daryl and his various movie roles including Murphy in The Boondock Saints.

Mads Mikkelsen – Cliff

Mads Mikkelsen is a Danish actor best known for starring in drama films and television shows. So he should feel right at home playing Cliff in Death Stranding which seems very dramatic.

Mikkelsen starred in many movies and TV shows including playing Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, Dr. Hannibal Lector in Hannibal, and many Danish shows and films as well.

Prior to acting he was a gymnast. We’ll see if Kojima makes him flex those skills again for Death Stranding.

Fragile – LÄ—a Seydoux

LÄ—a Seydoux is a French actress that has starred in many films both in her home country of France and also has an extensive career in Hollywood as well. She appeared in Inglorious Bastards, Robin Hood, Midnight in Paris, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Death Stranding is going to be her first foray into video games though. She plays Fragile in the Kojima Productions action game. Little else is know about her role at the moment but her appearance in the most recent trailer seems to hint that she will have a prominent role of some kind.

Mama – Margaret Qualley

Like many actors in Death Stranding, Margret Qualley has primarily spent their career outside of video games. Qualley’s big break was playing Jill Garvey in the HBO show The Leftovers.

Qualley is only 24 years old, and seems to have a promising career ahead of her. Her role as Mama in Death Stranding at the moment is still mysterious but the name may be hinting some kind of relation with the mysterious babies at the center of the plot.

Deadman – Guillermo del Toro

Anyone who closely follows the world of cinema likely needs no introduction for Guillermo del Toro, an Academy Award winning director whose career has spanned decades now.

He’s the mind behind classics such as Pan’s Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies (the good ones), Pacific Rim and most recently the monster-human love story, The Shape of Water.

He’s collaborating with Kojima in Death Stranding and he will have a “special appearance” as a voice actor in game as Deadman.

Heartman – Nicolas Winding Refn

Also joining Kojima’s suicide squad of prolific directors collaborating together for Death Stranding is Nicolas Winding Refn. Refn is best known for directing Drive which won him numerous accolades around the world and has worked closely with actor Ryan Gosling.

He too makes a special appearance in Death Stranding as Heartman, but since the plot is still under wraps, Refn’s role in it is quite mysterious still.

Die-Hardman  – Tommie Earl Jenkins

Tommie Earl Jenkins plays Die-Hardman who easily has the best name in all of Death Stranding. If I was Norman Reedus I’d be pissed. He got boring ol’ Sam and Tommie Earl Jenkins gets to be freakin’ Die-Hardman?! Geez.

Anyway, Tommie Earl Jenkins has built a career that has stretched across all forms of entertainment and media but primarily in theater including roles in Aladdin and Cats. He’s also done voice work for various MMORPGs including World of Warcraft and Guild Wars.

Higgs – Troy Baker

If there’s anyone on this Death Stranding voice cast that would be instantly familiar to gamers specifically it would be Troy Baker. Baker is one of the most prolific video game actors and voice actors.

He’s Sam Drake in Uncharted, Pagan Min in Far Cry 4, Joel in The Last of Us, Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V… the list goes on and on. There are very few people in voice acting for video games that can claim to be as well-known and accomplished as Troy Baker.

It’s no surprise that Kojima would look to add him to team of his latest game, Death Stranding.

Amelie- Lindsay Wagner

Lindsay Wagner is an accomplished, Emmy Award winning actress known for her roles in television and films since the 70s. She is likely best known for her portrayal of Jaime Sommers in sci-fi show, The Bionic Woman.

Little is known about Wagner’s role in Death Stranding, but for someone as accomplished and Wagner, and for someone that has had this kind of longevity in this business, it’s surprising that Death Stranding will be her first role in a video game.
