25 PlayStation Games That’ll Last You the Whole Summer Drought

So the summer is looming over you with its sun and lack of games. Why not swap out the brightness for one of the darkest, most challenging games on the PS4?

The recent reveal of a new, Norse mythology-themed God of War has fans excited. While you wait to get that game in your hands, check out God of War III on the PS4 which received a beautiful overhaul, making one of the best looking PS3 games even prettier.

Enter the Gungeon is what happens when a rogue-like game, a dungeon crawler, and bullet hell meet up in glorious matrimony. While this game is also on PC, there’s no other console where you can get in on the action.

Gravity Rush was overlooked by many PlayStation fans due to its PS Vita exclusivity. Luckily, the folks over at Sony figured it was time to Remaster the amazing experience as well as throw in some extra goodies for the PS4. Now you have no excuse not to see what made everyone fall in love.

If you’re looking for something challenging that will dominate the yours and your friends’ summer, then look no further than Helldivers. This four player, co-op shoot-em-up will test your skills and patience, plus it has cross platform play allowing you to play with your friends who haven’t upgraded ot the PS4 just yet.

If you’ve never played Ratchet & Clank for whatever reason -whether it was before your time or you just didn’t know the joys of platformers- use this summer to rectify that. The remake on the PS4 is one of the most beautiful games on the console and perfectly depicts why Ratchet & Clank is one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives ever.

Journey is technically a PlayStation exclusive, not a PS4 exclusive. However, it is definitely a game that deserves to be experienced, so if you’re new to Sony’s consoles, this is definitely a game you should give a try while you wait for the bigger releases later in the year.

You want to have fun and be frustrated as you wait through the summer drought? Say no more. N++ tight controls, and seemingly impossible ninja mazes will test your skill and keep you occupied for hours.

There’s just something about flying around Seattle and wreaking havoc with an arsenal of super powers that is almost irresistible. If you’ve yet to experience this gorgeous PS4 exclusive, you have a few months of slow game releases to dive right in.

One of the standout elements of Second Son was the character Fetch. Explore her story and become in tune with the power of Neon. It’s a standalone expansion, so you don’t actually need to own Second Son to play First Light.

One way to pass the summer is to sit down with a bunch of your friends (or enemies) on the couch and see who the best archer is. Fun fact, there happens to be a game that allows you to do just that. TowerFall Ascension is a fast paced game where you can show off your skills in well designed maps and pierce the souls of your opponents. Goodbye summer drought.

Even though it had its issues at launch, Street Fighter V is one damn good fighting game, and it’s console exclusive to the PS4. A few thousand Hadoukens should help the drought fly on by.

Resogun was one of the first exclusives to hit the PS4, and it still stands as one of the best. This tight, bullet hell shoot-’em-up is a true delight. If you decide to go for the Platinum trophy, be ready for a seriously tough time that will push you to the limits all in the name of fun.
