Over the course of time we spend with Ezio, we see him change from a vengeful teen to a wise master of the Order. Despite finally reaching a specific target he was so intent on killing at the very beginning of his story, we see Ezio realize that simply killing someone to get revenge isn’t going to bring back those he lost.

As we watch Ezio change and develop over time, it becomes clear he is far wiser than many of the other assassins from the series. A significant reason for his climbing of the ranks of the Order. Through showing restraint and only killing when necessary to eliminate a threat, Ezio shows a kind of composure that not all assassins hold. Having fought all that time for his family, Ezio is certainly a family man, but he knows ruthless actions won’t save anyone.

A Respect for the Lives He Takes

Though Ezio is commonly known for his one-liners and charm, one line is far more than just some quip thrown in to flesh out the game’s script. “Requiscat in Pace,” or Rest in Peace, is Ezio’s way of respecting the lives he is taking in his line of work, regardless of their deeds that led him to this point.

Through killing and carrying out his actions in honor, Ezio manages to maintain an element of class in an occupation where respect is not at the forefront. He shows a compassion and respect for life that his enemies and fellow assassins don’t share, and it’s something that becomes all the more prevalent as his journey progresses. Even when coming face to face with those who have hurt him and his family the most, Ezio manages to take the high road, showing respect for life at all times.

That Classic Italian Charm

Assassin’s Creed’s assassins have, for the most part, struggled when it comes to being anything close to relatable. They rarely crack jokes, stay incredibly serious, and focus on the task that lies ahead. Ezio, on the other hand, is quite the opposite, with oodles of charm to sweet talk his way out of many situations and also flirt with the ladies. Ezio’s charisma makes both his development as a character, as well as just generally following his story, far more enjoyable than any of the other assassins who felt noticbly more boring.

Never one to shy away from cracking a joke, Ezio manages to look on the bright side of his otherwise pretty dire circumstances. He takes care of the business he needs to while staying cool and composed. If you’re looking for a smooth-talking and interesting assassin to go on some adventures with, then Ezio is most definitely your guy.

His Hand in the Assassin’s Order

The expansion of the Order largely comes down to Ezio. Having turned a number of Rome’s citizens into Assassin apprentices and reforming those who had previously betrayed the Order, Ezio helps to expand the Order’s reach across Europe and even into India. This brotherhood that Ezio began to form in Rome helped to combat the influence of the Borgia family and the Papacy itself. Of course, Ezio went on to become the Mentor of the Order, succeeding Niccolo, who said Ezio was exactly what the Order needed.

His role in securing and expanding the Order continued upon his arrival in Constantinople. Having learned that the Templars had taken over Byzantine remnants and overthrow the Ottomans, Ezio retook all of the Assassin Dens and trained seven recruits to the rank of Master Assassins to protect each den. From here, the assassins managed to spread their influence across other cities across Europe and the Middle East, reducing Templar control and rebuilding the cities.

Now if you’re gonna tell me that any of the other assassins is better than Ezio, they better have a pretty impressive resume.
