Darkest Dungeon
Darkest Dungeon had its full release last month, although it had been in Early Access on Steam for a year before then. It is a roguelike turn-based RPG that throws you into the deep end.
It can be a difficult game, especially if RNG isn’t on your side, and it can be these rage inducing moments that viewers will want to turn into. You can even involve your chat by naming the in game characters after, and then they can see themselves either become very useful characters, or be killed in the first area.
Grand Theft Auto Online
Grand Theft Auto Online, and to a lesser extent GTA V, are very popular games that can be played on a variety of platforms. It isn’t bloated with people trying to stream it on Twitch compared to games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and Hearthstone, which will make it easier for potential viewers to find you through the directory.
The amount that you can do in GTA Online whether you are playing by yourself, with a small group of friends, or in a lobby with all your viewers, ensures that the content won’t get stale quickly. You may want to focus on the heists and other special missions, or play a wide collection of custom races. Or you can rely on the mayhem that can develop in the open world of Los Santos by just walking around. GTA Online presents a world of possibilities.
ARK: Survival Evolved
ARK: Survival Evolved has become one of the most popular multiplayer survival games in the last year, rivalling titles like DayZ, Rust, and H1Z1. It is currently playable on both the PC, and the Xbox One.
What makes Ark different is that you can tame a variety of dinosaurs, and then fight with them. Like with any survival game you have to watch out for other players, but sometimes the dialogue that occurs makes for hilarious moments on stream. You can choose to involve your viewers by teaming up with them, or you may want to keep it simple by playing with a small group of friends. Either way, interacting with dinosaurs while trying to make a life for you and your friends is very entertaining.
Any “Souls” Game
From Software is well known for creating great but difficult video games, and it is because of this that they are great to stream on Twitch. The collection includes Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1 & 2, Bloodborne, and the currently in development Dark Souls 3.
While Twitch viewers sometimes want to watch streamers who are great at the game they are playing, whether they are an esports professional or a speedrunner, they also like to see people discover, fail, and rage at difficult games. These games are also beautiful, and have a rich lore for you to enjoy. You may want to make sure that you have some trusted moderators if you want to have a blind experience, as you may get people telling you in chat what to do.
Destiny
Destiny released back in Sept. 2014,  and has seen multiple expansion that add a lot of content to the game. The MMO-like nature of the game makes it a good option to stream on Twitch.
The game offers a variety of activities for streamers to get into, including quests, Strikes, and raids. You could even mix up teams, as well as play with subscribers to add more to your channel. While opinions of Destiny may vary, the game has a fairly large community on Twitch that could potentially find your stream.
Super Mario Maker
While the Nintendo WiiU may not be the most popular gaming platform, and unlike the Xbox One and the PlayStation you aren’t able to stream your game directly, Nintendo games are still popular.
Super Mario Maker is arguably the best Nintendo game to stream currently for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is one of the newer games from Nintendo. More importantly, the near infinite replayability because of the user-created levels can make each stream unique. You could theme the levels that you are playing on a particular day, or get viewers to send their own levels for you to try and beat.
Jackbox Party Pack
The Jackbox Party Pack won’t be the best set of games to stream if you are only starting up, but will be great to play with your community.
There are two packs which each have a variety of great party games, with the two best known games being Quiplash and Fibbage. Quiplash is a game where players give their answers to specific questions, then, with the audience, players vote on their favorite answer. In Fibbage, you are trying to pick the true answer, with players gaining points when others choose their false answer.
The amount of players in each game is limited, but anyone can join the audience in Quiplash, so all of your viewers can get involved.
American Truck Simulator
While it is currently popular because it is a new release, American Truck Simulator is still a great game to try and stream often.
Because it isn’t as fast paced as games like Forza Horizon 2 or Need for Speed, it is easier to talk to your chat while delivering goods around California and Nevada. As time goes on there will be more mods to be able to try out. And, if you get bored of the American landscape, you can always do the same thing in Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege
The latest Tom Clancy game from Ubisoft, which released in December 2015, has been fairly popular with big Twitch streamers, and it could be a good option for anyone.
Rainbow Six Siege is a multiplayer shooter that revolves around tactically working as a team, which is quite different from Call of Duty where it is easier to play on your own. With the right group of friends or viewers, you could put on a great stream where you dominate your opponents, or you could have a laugh while entertaining anyone who is watching.
Something Creative
Yes this isn’t a video game, but Twitch has a directory purely for artists, designers, and other creative outputs. If you have a skill with something, or you want to improve more, you are able to do so to an audience.
A lot of people use the creative category to stream digital work in Adobe Photoshop, with Adobe themselves owning an active channel. Some of the more interesting streams include improv piano playing, cooking food with varying degrees of success, and knife making. Twitch have put together a detailed FAQ of what is and isn’t allowed to be streamed in the creative directory, so while you are able to build LEGO sets, you aren’t allowed to do your homework.
There are many other games that may be great to stream that haven’t been mentioned. Let us know in the comments if you have found success elsewhere on Twitch.
