Stardew Valley
No matter your opinions on the United States election today, it’s a stressful day for millions of people no doubt. Gaming is one of the most popular ways to unwind, and today could be a very long day for those of us at home, so here are four relaxing games to pick up and play all day while you wait for the results.
Although I have heard some people stress about the time limits in the game, I can assure you that Stardew Valley can be one of the most relaxing games on the market.
The game is all about living in a small town, with fishing, farming, mining, foraging, and crafting as the main mechanics of the game. On top of that. you can also build relationships with the people of the town, and even get married and have children.
The only important thing to remember while playing is there is no hard time limit or game overs. Whether it is year 1 or year 10, you can experience the same amazing gameplay, and there is nothing to miss out on. Pick it up on PC, or on any of your consoles at home.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing New Horizons is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, though if you happen to have a copy of any other Animal Crossing that should work nicely as well.
The game is a relaxation simulator, about being on an island with polite little anthropomorphic animal neighbors. You can fish, craft, buy, gather, chop, and manage your island and home as you like, without any in-game worries to prevent you from relaxing.
Although this game does match our real world time 1-1, no one will judge you for using the popular exploit to work around it today. If you need a tutorial on how to do this, we have one here.
Genshin Impact
The newest game on this list, Genshin Impact made a big splash with its release in September. The game features a vast, beautiful open-world with plenty to do in all its locations, and plenty of relaxing sites to see. Cooking, crafting, climbing, and puzzle solving are all things to expect within the game. If you enjoy gacha mechanics, it has an optional portion of the game dedicated to that as well.
As with the next game on the list as well, Genshin Impact does prominently feature combat. If gameplay like that can get you on edge, I would recommend sticking to something lighter.
Genshin Impact is available on Windows, IOS, Android, and PS4 for free.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Available on Nintendo Switch and Wii U, Breath of the Wild is another open-world relaxing exploration game. The father of the Genshin Impact style, it features another, similarly breathtaking world with secrets to be found in every corner.
With a thin, nearly non-existent main storyline, Breath of the Wild can keep your attention for days at a time with the number of world events you can experience.
Although I cannot recommend it enough for relaxation, as I stated before be careful if combat is something that makes you anxious, as it is quite involved in the gameplay loop.
There are so many more games that could be on this list. If you have a good suggestion please leave a comment below, and if none of these pique your interest, or you don’t have access to them, check the comments to see if there is something there to help you as well.
