We Happy Few
Though confirmed to come to PC, We Happy Few is a console exclusive to Xbox One. While it doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, the game of paranoia and survival set in a drugged-out, dystopian English city in the 1960s is set to see its full release at some point this year. The game is also due to see an Early Access release this month, too.
Having been successfully Kickstarted early last year with $334,754 CAD, We Happy Few tasks you with blending in with its other drug-fueled citizens who don’t take kindly to people who don’t stick to the rules of the everyday life they’re accustomed to. If you’re after a completely unique experience, We Happy Few sounds like it might be right up your alley.
Gears of War 4
Having already had its beta back in April, Gears of War 4 will more than likely be coming to E3 to show off a little more about its characters and the single-player campaign. Due to release on October 11, Gears of War 4 will follow the story of Marcus Fenix’s son and the rest of his team as they take on a new kind of enemy.
With the game’s release just over four months away, E3 seems like the perfect time for Coalition Studios and Microsoft to reveal a little bit more and get fans hyped for the gory action when the game releases later this year.
The Wild Eight
The Wild Eight hasn’t been given a ton of time in the spotlight, but its got a lot of potential to shine when it releases at some point this year. The Wild Eight is a co-op survival game with a mysterious storyline that takes placed in a procedurally-generated world. Telling the story of eight people whose everyday lives are changed after a plane crash, you and the other players in your group find yourselves stranded in the heart of the forests of Alaska.
Unfortunately, The Wild Eight hasn’t received a specific release date yet, still down as a TBA 2016 title. However, it’s possible that we could receive more details and the release date during Microsoft’s E3 conference. Only time will tell.
Below
Below is another Microsoft exclusive, due to release on Xbox One and PC at some point during 2016. Though the game doesn’t have a set release date yet, this could be another game that gets further details revealed should Microsoft perhaps have an indie section to its conference.
An adventure game with a top-down perspective, Below sees the player navigating a tiny warrior around the depths of a remote island. The game features roguelike gameplay with randomly generated worlds and perma-death. Here’s hoping we’ll see more of it at E3 next week.
Halo Wars 2
Finally coming in 2016, Halo Wars 2 is the sequel to the 2009 real-time strategy set in the Halo universe. With Creative Assembly taking the reigns on development for the sequel, Halo Wars 2 has the potential to be that much more in-depth and strategic than its predecessor.
Like many of the exclusives Microsoft has lined up for 2016, Halo Wars 2 doesn’t yet have a release date.
Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 is currently set to release in two parts, though both are due to come this year. The multiplayer section of the game is set to release first, at some point this Summer, with the single-player aspect of the game coming later on. Though we’re still waiting on set release dates for both parts, we’d bet our bottom dollar on Microsoft revealing all at its E3 conference next week.
Returning to your role as a super-powered Agent of Justice, you’ll be able to explore the futuristic city as you jump to the top of buildings or sprint through the streets. The multiplayer component of the game shows off some truly impressive tech, too, with Microsoft’s Cloud allowing for the complete destruction of the city.
Cuphead
Shown at last year’s E3, Cuphead is that action game that focuses heavily on excruciatingly difficult boss battles. With an art style similar to that of cartoons from the 1930’s, each attack, weapon, and backdrop to your adventure gives the challenging gameplay a deceptively childlike look.
Having been over a year since we last saw a big reveal for the game, Microsoft’s conference next week could be the time we finally find out the release date for Cuphead on Xbox One and PC.
ReCore
Not much has been said about ReCore since it was announced at E3 last year. In fact, the extent of our knowledge is that we’ll be exploring a beautiful desert-like terrain with all kinds of weird and wonderful robots powered by a blue orb.
Other than that, the title’s creator, Keiji Inafune, and his team have been silent on the Xbox One exclusive. With it due to release at some point this year, E3’s stage seems like it may well be the perfect place for Microsoft to spill the beans on one of its potentially biggest exclusives this year.
Sea of Thieves
Rare has been oddly quiet about its upcoming MMO pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves, after revealing it at last year’s E3. Coming to Xbox One and PC, Sea of Thieves allows you reveal your inner pirate and sail the seas in search of hidden riches and the secrets hidden by the sea.
Again, Sea of Thieves is still awaiting a more specific 2016 release date, but for now, we’ll just have to take solace in the fact that it’s still slated to at least come out at some point this year. Our ships be waitin’!
