Chris Evans
Evans got his start in the superhero business as the Human Torch in Fox’s Fantastic Four movies in 2005 and 2007. He officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America in his solo film, The First Avenger, in 2011. Given what’s happened in Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron, Cap isn’t always willing to trust people like he used to, and that’s gonna be a big problem in Civil War.
Robert Downey Jr.
The man who started it all joins the Star Spangled Man’s third solo movie. Downey’s been around for years, though most probably know him best from his role on Ally McBeal as Larry Paul or Sherlock Holmes in the Guy Ritchie films. More recently, his non-Marvel filmography includes The Judge and Chef from Iron Man director Jon Favreau.
Scarlett Johansson
Johansson’s had a busy few years. In addition to playing Black Widow, she was the title character in Luc Besson’s Lucy and the voice of the AI Sam in the movie Her. Next year, she’ll be voicing Kaa in The Jungle Book film and she’ll have a role in the comedy film Hail, Caesar.
Anthony Mackie
Mackie joined Captain America’s world with the release of The Winter Soldier last year as his partner The Falcon, and he’s back again for Civil War. Mackie is currently in theaters as one of Seth Rogen’s friends in the Christmas film The Night Before, and he’ll be playing Martin Luther King, Jr. in the TV movie All the Way.
Sebastian Stan
Stan was seen earlier this year in Ridley Scott’s The Martian and Ricki and the Flash, but most people know him as the Winter Solider or the Mad Hatter on  ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Stan also had a recurring role on the CW’s Gossip Girl back in 2007 and NBC’s Kings.
Don Cheadle
The Kansas City native is probably best known for his role as John Littleton on the 1993 series Picket Fences or Basher in the recent Ocean’s 11 trilogy. Before playing War Machine in the Marvel movies, he played Paul Rusesabagina in the award winning film Hotel Rwanda. Currently, he’s also in the lead role on Showtime’s House of Cards.
Elizabeth Olson
Olson’s the newest member to join the MCU after showing up in Age of Ultron earlier this year as the Scarlet Witch. Before this, she was in Godzilla and Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy, and the 2011 film Silent House. Next year, she’ll also be in the movie I Saw the Light.
Jeremy Renner
Renner had a cameo appearance in the original Thor back in 2011 before showing up in full force as Hawkeye in the first Avengers film. He’s currently in another big action franchise as William Brandt in the Mission Impossible series. Renner also played Hansel in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (yes, seriously) and Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy.
Emily VanCamp
VanCamp first showed up in the three-part season seven premiere of Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? in a small role before making her debut as Sam Dolan in Glory Days. Her notable roles include Rebecca Harper on Brothers and Sisters and the lead Emily Thorne in the recently concluded revenge. In Civil War, she plays Sharon Carter, an ex-SHIELD agent who worked with Captain America.
Chadwick Boseman
Boseman has had guest roles in TV shows like CSI: NY and Castle, but many probably know him as playing Jackie Robinson in 42 or James Brown in Get on Up. He’ll be playing the Black Panther in Civil War before moving on to his own solo film in 2018.
Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd, aka Humanity’s Youngest Looking Immortal, is probably best known as Brian Fantana in the Anchorman films or Josh in Clueless. He’s mainly had comedy roles, his best one being Bobby Newport on Parks and Recreation. He made his first appearance in Ant-Man this July, and he’ll be in Civil War before moving on to Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Paul Bettany
Bettany is best known for his role in the British film Gangster and A Knight’s Tale. He’s been in a variety of other films such as Legion, The Tourist, and The Da Vinci Code. While he’s been playing the AI J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Marvel movies, Age of Ultron was the first one where he got to do physical work as the Vision.
Daniel Bruhl
Bruhl began his acting career in the German soap opera Forbidden Love in 1995 before having a starring role in the German film Good Bye, Lenin! His notable roles include Frederick Zoller in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds and Niki Lauda in Rush. He’ll be playing the Captain America villain Baron Zemo.
Martin Freeman
Let’s be real, everyone knows who Freeman is, thanks to his stint as Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit trilogy or as Watson in the Sherlock series that everyone’s still waiting on to have new episodes. Even if you’ve somehow not seen those, you’ve probably seen him in Love, Actually or Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz. His role in the Captain America movie is still under wraps, but he’s apparently playing a government agent.
William Hurt
Hurt made his film debut in the 1980 film Altered States, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He’s also been on FX’s Damages and the TV miniseries Moby Dick. He first showed up in the MCU as General Thunderbolt Ross in the 2008 Incredible Hulk movie, and this’ll be his second appearance since then. Hurt’s also on the AMC series Humans in a main role, and he’ll be in the film Beowulf next year.
Frank Grillo
Grillo played Brock Rumlow in Winter Soldier last year, but for Civil War, he’s going full comic book as the villain Crossbones, and he’s got a bone to pick with Cap and Falcon after they dropped a building on him. If you need a good idea of what he’ll be like, watch last year’s The Purge: Anarchy. Currently, he’s got a main role on the series Kingdom as Alvey Kulina.
Tom Holland
Holland is the third Spider-Man to show up in theaters after Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s trilogy and Andrew Garfield’s two recent films. He’s the youngest to be a part of the film, best known as Billy Elliott in the titular musical. After Civil War, Holland will play the wallcrawler again in a new series of films, the first of which is scheduled for July 2017.
