PS Plus Free Games Predictions For January 2019

If there is one thing that could make PlayStation owners happy in the new year, it’s getting a great AAA game for free on PS Plus after spending so much money on gifts for others during the holiday season.

An absolute no-brainer for Sony to include is Uncharted: The Nathan Drake collection, which includes a copy of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception all remastered at 1080p and 60fps.

The bundle released back in 2015, and is constantly on sale for sometimes as low as $12. Currently it is 20% off for the Holiday sale at only $15.99 until Jan. 15.

Uncharted games have been offered on PS Plus in the past, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss in November 2012 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in June 2013.

Giving players a mainline Sony exclusive series would be received extremely well, and would feel like a great start to the new year. The Nathan Drake collection is almost always on sale, meaning it is less of a financial risk offering it for free even if it is exclusive to the PS4.

Another route they could take is offering Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End for free as well, which is also 20% off and only $15.99 at the time of writing. However, it just would be more likely Sony would opt to give three titles in a bundle, as it might then entice players to pick up the final entry after playing through the rest for free.

Check out page two where we consider some possible indie inclusions in January’s PS Plus list as well.

PS Plus Free Games Predictions For January 2019

PS Plus, predictions

Along with the larger game, a couple smaller titles from independent developers usually make the PS Plus list as well.

For indies, we are expecting titles that are available on PS3, PS Vita, or both, since Sony has announced that as of March 2019 games for those two platforms will no longer be included on PS Plus. Therefore, it’s pretty likely in the last few months before this happens, most of the indies offered for free will be for those two platforms.

One likely contender is Odin Sphere Leifthrasir from Vanillaware. This title is available on not only PS Vita and PS3, but PS4 as well, so Sony will be hitting quite a few birds with one stone with this choice.

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is also considered one of the best PS Vita titles of all time, being a remake of 2D, beat-em-up RPG Odin Sphere on PS2. It’s surprising this title has not been included on PS Plus yet since it hits so many targets being exclusively available on three Sony platforms and being so well received by players, so Sony better do so before March to make subscribers happy.

Another possible indie is Lost Dimension from Lancarse for essentially identical reasons. It is also considered one of the better PS Vita games to date, but for some reason has not been included on PS Plus yet, and is available on multiple Sony platforms including PS3 and PS Vita.

Lost Dimensions originally released in 2014, and features tactical RPG elements along with a narrative that reads like a visual novel where the player’s choices affect the story and the fate of the characters in your party. You play as Sho Kasugai, a member of the group S.E.A.L.E.D, consisting of 17 and 18 year old teens with psychic abilities.

Make sure to check back soon for the official announcement from Sony to what free games you can expect on PS Plus in January 2019.
