One of the biggest ways to score big in the new Destiny mode is to create chains of massive enemy killstreaks, either via your super or general gunplay. Using a super such as Stormtrance will allow you to sweep multiple enemies at once, allowing you to double down on the number of points you receive. This makes it critically important that you pick sub-classes that can take out multiple enemies at once such as the Stormcaller, Bladedancer, or Sunbreaker class. While passive classes like the Sunsinger and Defender can still do some work, you will want to go for maximum impact if getting a gold medal is your goal.

Make sure to try and feed off each other’s supers, as this will not only create big point boosts but allow you to generate a ton of orbs. Always be on the offensive in Strike Scoring, because speed killing is the goal when it comes to gaining chain medals. The more chain medals you acquire, the better your overall team’s score will be, so try to land your grenades where multiple enemies will be. Another tip is to not use your super on the boss unless it’s necessary, as you won’t gain any extra points for damaging it like you would other enemies they’d summon.

Destiny: The Dawning

While there are no doubt many Guardians that have memorized the fastest routes through the treasure trove of strikes offered in Destiny, you will want to be thorough for Strike Scoring. Unless you are doing a timed Nightfall, it’s no use to your Fireteam to just blaze through each room until the boss arrives. Instead, take your time to explore every room and all the enemy spawn points you may encounter. Certain strikes such as The Nexus and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. will have players pass through locations that are not a part of the mission itself.

This means that while they aren’t officially apart of the strike, you can still farm points from the enemies outside. There’s no need to run by them, as they can easily push your score up to the Gold Medal level before you fight the boss. Doing this can alleviate any headaches you may be having and will allow you to finish the new Vanguard Elite Bounties quicker.

Chain Your Kills

For those wanting to maximize your Destiny Strike Scoring, it’s important that you don’t just kill one enemy at a time, but actually chain your kills between targets. Following the same idea as achieving a double or triple kill in the Crucible, players can obtain streaks by killing multiple targets within a second or two of each other. These not only add more points to your overall score but allow you to collect new medals such as the Rainbow medal.

Always make sure to switch out between weapons and target groups at a time. Try to shoot stragglers first so they don’t interrupt your kill streaks when fighting. This also goes for instances when two factions are fighting against each other, as you’ll typically want to kill one group first so they don’t end up shooting enemies you need for a Secondary Streak while they’re low on health.

Never Forget The Majors

When you are speeding through Destiny Strikes, sometimes it’s just easier to ignore the yellow barred major class enemies that are spread throughout the level. When it comes to Strike Scoring, though, try not to ignore these enemies if you are trying to get the highest score possible in this new game mode. Majors award a lot of points for their deaths, and given there are situations where swarms of them can spawn at once, they can help push you to the next medal level. Always make sure to slay these creatures and if possible try and kill them with a super or grenade for extra points.

Use Your Abilities More Often

One of the most interesting aspects of Strike Scoring is how it weighs your melee, grenade, and super kills with regards to actual points. Destiny players can earn more for delivering a firm punch to a target rather than simply shooting it in the chest. This means a good and quick way to boost your team’s score is go on a melee spree against some squishier targets. The actual abilities, such as Life Steal, that are tied to the melee button don’t need to be active, as it will register them all the same.

This goes for grenades and supers as well, as these can bring in a large numbers of points if you use them effectively. Try to not waste your super or grenade on a single target, as you’ll always see more success if you use them on large groups of far weaker foes. Unless you are going to finish the boss off, always use supers as a method to achieve points rather than to dealing damage to a boss’ health.
