Best Upcoming Xbox One Games for January 2019
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

While the PS4 may be the home of JRPG experiences so far this generation, that doesn’t mean it’s a completely barren desert over on the Xbox One.
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition is making its way to Xbox One on Jan. 11, which packs in all of the exclusive content from the Japanese PS3 version of the game into one comprehensive package.
This means you’ll have the additional characters of Patty Fleur the pirate, as well as Flynn Scifo as a full party member.
As is always the case with remasters and ports to newer systems, the Definitive Edition will also make use of the Xbox One’s additional power for improved visuals, as well as entirely new cutscenes.
To top the whole thing off, the Definitive Edition comes complete with full English and Japanese voice tracks. If you’ve ever been wondering what the ‘Tales of’ series is all about, then there’s no better time to jump in and try it out. Especially as we ranked it the best ‘Tales of’ game of all time.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season – Episode 3: Broken Toys

The tail-end of 2018 brought about a sad state of affairs for Telltale Games.
What had once been a prominent name in decision-based, episodic games folded within the space of a week, scrapping upcoming projects such as The Wolf Among Us Season 2, and the remainder of The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Or, at least, so fans thought.
That was until Skybound Interactive bought out the rights to release the remaining episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, developed by a skeleton staff of former Telltale employees.
So far this season, we’ve seen Clementine join a group of schoolkid survivors, only to find out they’ve got their own trouble with a bunch of nearby raiders. Following the chaos that emerged at the end of episode 2, it’s likely that episode 3, titled Broken Toys, will see things really heat up with just one episode to go after that.
That being said, Broken Toys’ teaser trailer is fairly light in terms of gameplay or story teases for episode three itself.
Instead, it focuses on looking back at the many faces and obstacles Clementine has faced on her adventure thus far, from right back when Lee first found her.
Though the full team may no longer be working on The Final Season, we’ve got our fingers crossed that Skybound Interactive will do Clementine justice and give her the fitting end that she deserves.

Life Is Strange 2: Episode 2 – Rules

Life Is Strange 2 might not focus on the characters of the first season, but that hasn’t made its narrative any less engaging.
Telling the story of the Diaz brothers after a series of complicated events results in them having to leave home and embark on an adventure, Life Is Strange 2 places a large emphasis on the brotherly dynamic between Daniel and Sean.
Following the end of the first episode, the two brothers continue on the run from the authorities as they face the tough winter weather.
Sean will have to deal with a tough decision as Daniel falls ill, and if we were betting folk, we’d say Daniels mysterious powers he can’t seem to control fully yet will likely pop up again, too.
While many fans may have thought that Life Is Strange was all about Max, Chloe, and their ensemble cast, Life Is Strange 2 has proven that the series’ is more than just memorable characters.
With beautiful visuals, a perfect licensed soundtrack, and actually tough and meaningful choices, Life Is Strange 2 is just as captivating and immersive as the games that came before it.
Life Is Strange 2: Episode 2 will release on Xbox One on Jan. 24.

Resident Evil 2

The Resident Evil series got back to its survival horror roots with the release of Resident Evil 7 back in 2017.
Its switch to a first-person perspective enabled the game to retain its intense level of suspense throughout and made your encounters with nightmarish creatures all the more immersive.
While Resident Evil 2’s remake isn’t keeping the same first-person camera, instead opting for an over-the-shoulder camera, it looks like Capcom’s intent on reminding fans that the series is all about survival horror and not campy action.
Players will once again follow Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they navigate the streets of Raccoon City that are teeming with the undead.
With many heralding Resident Evil 2 as one of the scariest entries in the series, you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll get your fill of terrifying jump scares as you play through the remake in all its polished glory.
Resident Evil 2 remake will release on Xbox One on Jan. 25.
