Batman - The Telltale Series

August is the beginning of the end for 2016’s ‘summer drought.’ Developers, both indie and triple-A, are once again bestowing some great games upon the gaming masses. Week one is a bit slower than others, but that doesn’t mean it’s without any great games for fans of all types to sink their teeth into. Abzu, from the artistic mind that helped to bring us both Flower and Journey, sets players on a beautiful diving excursion.

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked brings back the tough survival that has hooked tons of players already, only this time water will prove to be a great ally and a mortal enemy. One stand-out title of the week though will definitely be Batman: The Telltale Series. The talented story-smiths at Telltale are bringing out all the stops as they tackle the caped crusader, even introducing their own form of multiplayer. It will be interesting to see how donning the cowl plays out in this new adventure.

No Man’s Sky is an extraordinarily ambitious exploration game that puts players into the cold expanse of an infinite universe. There has been a lot of wonder surrounding this open-universe game, and explorers will finally be able to see what all the mystery surrounding the cosmos is for themselves.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force brings the series back to the spotlight, if not a bit differently than what fans expected and may have wanted. Okhlos is a new indie game that gives players control of the tired and hungry masses of a corrupt ancient government.

Bound is one of the more interesting newcomers this week, with a beautiful aesthetic centered on dance in the midst of mystery. There are a lot of potential indie gems on the menu for this week, definitely worth a try as you await the coming triple-A onslaught of the fall and holiday season.

King of Fighters XIV, yet another exclusive fighter for the PS4, battles its way into stores during the week as well. God Eater 2: Rage Burst brings its unique flavor of monster hunting to PC and Sony platforms, and Hatsune Miku Diva X helps to keep the anime presence in August 2016 strong.
