6 Best Games in the Square Enix Publisher Sale You Should Buy

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Square Enix must really want us to be left with little to no money right before the holiday season because they are having a publisher sale on Xbox that features heavy discounts on several of their biggest games.

It can be taxing to look through the entire list of games that are on sale, but luckily you’ve come to the right place, as we have the best games in the sale for you to buy right here.

And just a reminder, the Square Enix Publisher Sale is only available on the Microsoft Store and lasts until Sept. 23, so make sure you get those purchases in before the sale expires.

Let’s check these games out, shall we?

Kingdom Hearts 3

  • Original Price: $59.99
  • Sale Price: $29.99 (50% off)

It’s still hard to believe that fans of Kingdom Hearts finally got the game that wrapped up the Xehanort Saga with a nice shiny bow.

Kingdom Hearts 3 managed to introduce brand new Disney worlds to Sora’s story such as Arendelle from Frozen, Andy’s Room from Toy Story, and Sanfransokyo from Big Hero 6.

We loved the narrative presented here as well as the silky smooth and satisfying keyblade action that the series is known for.

We’ll have to wait sometime before we get a new mainline title in the franchise, but KH3 has made that wait for it slightly more bearable thanks to its satisfying conclusion.

$30 is a fantastic price for this title as it’s still one of the best-selling games of the year and you’d be crazy to pass down a deal like this if you’re a fan and somehow haven’t bought it yet.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

  • Original Price: $59.99
  • Sale Price: $19.99 (67% off)

Crystal Dynamics did a wonderful job at rebooting one of the most popular video game characters ever –Lara Croft.

Instead of a silly action game where you do backflips and fight dinosaurs, the new Tomb Raider trilogy would be emotional, set-piece-filled- and give players a variety of weapons and tools to use during firefights.

Thanks to the devs, they made people care about Lara Croft in a different way, a way that resonated with critics and gamers alike.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was the end of this whole arc and while it wasn’t as wonderful as the first title, it still managed to wrap up the trilogy in a satisfying way.

Life is Strange 2 – Complete Season

  • Original Price: $39.99
  • Sale Price: $26.79 (33% off)

Life is Strange is an episodic series that comes from Dontnod and the second season centers on two brothers who end up fleeing from the police as their father is unexpectedly killed.

The two end up in some very sticky situations every episode and are even forced to deal with some controversial issues.

Being a LiS game, you’ll be making choices as you play as the older brother, and these decisions will shape the game and morph the relationship between Daniel and Sean.

The second season is nearly over, but you can grab all five episodes right now for only $26, which equates to about $5 per episode –not a bad deal if you ask me.

Just Cause 4

just cause 4
  • Original Price: $59.99
  • Sale Price: $19.79 (67% off)

Do you like blowing shit up with a rocket launcher and getting rewarded for it? Do you like jumping out of helicopters and parachuting down while explosions are going off like a James Bond film? Well, then Just Cause 4 might be the game for you.

Play as agent Rico Rodriguez as you explore (and decimate) a South American location with versatile tools of destructions at your disposal.

It’s action all the way and if you’re looking for a substantial and enjoyable third-person shooter, this is a decent pick.

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition

  • Original Price: $49.99
  • Sale Price: $24.99 (50% off)

Final Fantasy XV is the first FF game that brought the mainline single-player entries into a vast open world but tons of activities to do, sidequests to complete, and strange enemies to fight.

Final Fantasy XV was criticized a bit for spacing out its narrative across lots of different media and DLC, but everything else about this title was pretty fantastic. The combination of Kingdom Hearts combat mixed with new Final Fantasy elements was fluid, fast, and easy to learn.

This Royale Edition comes packed with most of the downloadable content so if this is your first time playing the game, this package is a steal at $24.99.

Final Fantasy VII

  • Original Price: $15.99
  • Sale Price: $11.19 (30% off)

If you’re like me and have yet to finish the Square classic that is Final Fantasy VII, then now you have no excuse as you can purchase the iconic JRPG for $11.

The hype is certainly extremely high for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake and if you want to have that nostalgia kick like everyone else, then it would be a good idea to play through the original before diving into the remake.
