Firework Launcher (GTA V)

4th of july

The 4th of July is a very special day for a lot of people. It’s a time for family, celebration, cookouts, and, most importantly, blowing things up to high heaven. There’s just something about colorful fire in the sky that puts the cherry on top of an already pretty great day. Of course, not everyone has access to fireworks on the 4th of July due to a long list of reasons, but that’s what video games are for.

Take the Firework Launcher in Grand Theft Auto V, for instance. From afar, it may look like any old rocket launcher ready to explode the soul of anyone foolish enough to cross its path. But up close, it turns out that it is a festive tool… that is ready to explode the soul of anyone foolish enough to cross its path. But, who says you have to be a death-dealing maniac on the 4th of July? Grab a couple of friends, maybe a couple of beers from the nearest store, head to one of Los Santos’ many rooftops and put some lights in the air.

Musket (Too Many Games to Name)

4th of july

So not everything is about making big, fiery lights in the sky. Sometimes the weapon just has to make you feel like those guys who earned the 4th of July holiday in the first place. No weapon is better than the musket. Now okay, you may be thinking “but a musket isn’t very exciting… like, at all.” And you have a pretty solid point there. But, take a second and think back to a recent game called Assassin’s Creed III.

That game put you right in the center of the Revolutionary War with time appropriate weapons. While jumping off of roofs and using hidden blades was fun and all, there was no greater feeling than to hit a charging enemy square in the face with a perfectly placed musket shot. In the heat of battle, after all the punching and slicing, firing the musket just couldn’t be matched. It’s one of the weapons that helped lead to the 4th of July, so go let off a few rounds and win some independence.

Screaming Eagle (Saints Row IV)

4th of July

“That’s a vehicle, not a weapon” you all just screamed in unison. Saints Row IV‘s Screaming Eagle Jet is more than just a vehicle, it’s a representation of the 4th of July and independence as a whole. Just take a look at the thing.

First of all, the Screaming Eagle Jet is a VTOL that looks like a friggin bald eagle. It fires lasers from its intimidating beak, and lets off a celebratory screech every time you let the rockets fly. If that doesn’t perfectly emulate the feeling of letting loose a bottle rocket on the 4th of July, I don’t know what does. Just imagine seeing a bunch of these bad boys flying overhead during your family cookout, absolutely marvelous.

Spirit Bomb (Dragon Ball Z Games)

4th of July

Wait, what? How did Goku’s ultimate attack make it onto a list of weapons perfect for the 4th of July? Well, it’s actually quite simple. You see, people love to see beautiful flashing lights in the sky as they sit down and joy their meals and family. What’s prettier than a huge ball of spirit energy being lovingly held by Earth’s greatest champion? On top of that, independence day is all about unity, the unity of a nation. The Spirit Bomb requires that everyone lends their strength for the greater good.

Seriously, how beautiful is that? Everyone raising their hands to contribute to one of the most beautiful fireworks ever created… right before it crashes to the ground causing a huge crater where nobody can live. The end might not be all that wonderful, but the lights. Oh, those beautiful lights.

‘Merica Weapon

4th of july

Let’s just all take a step back and admire the beauty of this admittedly ridiculous weapon. Volition knew that they had already provided players of Saints Row IV with some serious artillery, but they couldn’t just make you the President of the Free World without giving you something truly over-the-top to play with. That’s where the ‘Merica Weapon comes in with all of its frantic glory.

Just to give you an understanding of what’s under the hood with this weapon, here’s what it includes:

  • Light Machine gun
  • Sub Machine gun
  • Auto Shotgun
  • Heavy Pistol
  • Minigun
  • Rocket Launcher
  • Flamethrower
  • Super Dangerous Blade

Firing the ‘Merica Weapon leads to an explosion of light and death perfect for any celebration. And, if you hold the trigger long enough, every few seconds will produce a beautiful firework explosion for you to marvel at as you celebrate your 4th of July in style.

These are weapons that will remind you just how special the 4th of July is. So make sure to grab your family, some good food, and sit them in front of your television as you give them the show of their lives. Are there any weapons you feel deserve to be on this list?
