Ever since the FIFA series began back in 1993, it has not only been the the premier soccer series but it has been a source of new music discovery for millions of fans. Here are our 30 best FIFA songs that you’ll definitely remember.
When naming the best FIFA songs, those that come to mind aren’t necessarily the best technically or the most popular in the traditional charts. Instead, they are the songs that are synonymous with the series or those with particular riffs or intros that any FIFA fan will instantly recognise. Let’s start with arguably the most obvious choice.
The Rockafeller Skank – Fatboy Slim (FIFA 99)
For many, The Rockafeller Skank is the song that is the most synonymous with FIFA, especially with the series being so popular back in the late 90s. Fatboy Slim’s song played over the opening credits that you’d see every time you started the game.
Kids – MGMT (FIFA 09)
Even if you don’t remember most of the song, the shouting kids intro is instantly recognisable. It was one of two standout tracks in FIFA 09.
Jerk It Out – The Caesars (FIFA 2004)
My personal favorite from all the way back in 2004. Swedish indie rock bands don’t get a whole lot of attention, but they’re perfect for early 00s FIFA soundtracks. Almost every discussion of the classic FIFA songs will see Jerk It Out come up.
Youngblood Hawke – We Come Running (FIFA 13)
You’ll notice that many of the tracks on this list are from the FIFAs 12 to 14. Those were not only the years in which Ultimate Team really began to hit its stride, but EA Sports upped their game when it came to soundtracks after a few underwhelming years. We Come Running is one of the standouts from FIFA 13.
I Can Talk – Two Door Cinema Club (FIFA 11)
Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club are one of the staples of FIFA soundtracks. Sleep Alone featured in FIFA 13 and Wreck was included in FIFA 17, but I Can Talk is the most memorable.
Finale – Madeon (FIFA 13)
French DJ, Madeon, burst onto the scenes in the summer of 2012 and Finale was included in the FIFA that released that fall.
Hit It – American Authors (FIFA 14)
FIFA 14, along with FIFA 12, had the best soundtracks that the series has seen. The first of the standouts in t he former’s list is American Authors’ extremelty catchy Hit It.
Goodbye Mr. A – The Hoosiers (FIFA 08)
FIFA 08 is one of the worst games in the series, releasing at the height of PES popularity in the late 2000s, but it still had a decent soundtrack.
Love Me Again – John Newman (FIFA 14)
Another of the big hitters, Love Me Again is one of the most mentioned FIFA songs and was instrumental in making FIFA 14’s list one of the best. John Newman’s tune is really catchy in its own right too.
Hits Me Like a Rock – CSS & Bobby Gillespie (FIFA 12)
FIFA 12’s soundtrack is the other one, after FIFA 14, that was filled with classic after classic. One of the lesser known tracks, but still extremely catchy was Hits Me Like a Rock.
Red Morning Light – Kings of Leon (FIFA 2004)
The second classic tune from FIFA 2004, when Arsenal were the best team on the game, Red Morning Light is another that always comes up as the most memorable FIFA songs. It’s far from my favorite Kings of Leon song, though.
19-2000 – Soulchild Remix – Gorillaz (FIFA 2002)
Another old-school one, the Soulchild Remix of Gorillaz’s 19-2000 has become the main version of the song and featured on FIFA 2002.
High and Low – Empire of the Sun (FIFA 17)
Empire of the Sun have had two great songs in FIFA over the years. Alive is another of FIFA 14’s highlights, but their best is High and Low which you’ll remember from FIFA 17.
We Sink – Chvrches (FIFA 14)
Yet another FIFA 14 track, We Sink isn’t Chvrches most famous song, but it was a standout when it came to the soccer series.
Lyla – Oasis (FIFA 06)
Surprisingly, Oasis haven’t made that many appearances in FIFA throughout the years, especially considering that British indie rock music is a staple of the series. Lyla isn’t one of the most famous songs either, but it was the standout from FIFA 06, which is one of the worst FIFA’s we’ve seen.
Club Foot – Kasabian (FIFA 13)
Club Foot is synonymous with football, especially in the UK. Not only was it part of FIFA 13’s main soundtrack, but it was used as the intro to Premier League matches in FIFA 14 and it has been used in TV football coverage for years. Kasabian’s other song, L.S.F is another great song from the FIFA 2004 soundtrack.
Wages (PHRESSSH Mix) – Bad Sounds (FIFA 18)
One of the most recent tracks in this list, Wages is one of the most catchy FIFA songs of the last few years.
Call It What You Want – Foster the People (FIFA 12)
Another of the classics from FIFA 12, Call It What You Want seemed to play more than anything other in the game’s menus.
Song 2 – Blur (FIFA 98)
Another throwback, Blur’s Song 2 is one of the most famous song to ever be in FIFA. Any long time fan will remember screaming ‘Woo Hoo’ along with this song when it came on.
No Problem – Chase & Status (FIFA 12)
This one’s a bit different from the usual sets of indie bands that make up FIFA soundtracks. The catchy drum beats made No Problem another standout in FIFA 12’s list.
Mountain At My Gates – Foals (FIFA 16)
Foals have had two great songs in FIFA soundtracks. The catchy My Number was part of FIFA 14’s, but my favorite is Mountain At My Gates from FIFA 16.
Move – Saint Motel (FIFA 17)
Another of the lesser known, recent tracks, Saint Motel’s Move is a song from FIFA 17 that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Machu Picchu – The Strokes (FIFA 12)
Yet another FIFA 12 track, The Strokes’ Machu Picchu is classic FIFA indie rock kinda stuff.
The Big Bang – Rock Mafia (FIFA 12)
FIFA 12 again, The Big Bang is one of the catchiest songs we’ve ever seen in the series.
Tubthumping – Chumbawamba (FIFA 98)
Another classic of the football world, any British football fan will know Chumbawamba’s Tubthumping, whether they’ve played a lot of FIFA or not.
Dreaming – Smallpools (FIFA 14)
Any FIFA 14 player will instantly recognise the opening notes of Smallpools’ Dreaming. It’s another track from the game released in fall 2013, too. Check out some of Smallpools’ other stuff if you’re not familiar as well.
Love Natural – Crystal Fighters (FIFA 14)
Another of my personal favorites, Love Natural is yet another of FIFA 14’s standout songs. Crystal Fighters’ music is often really catchy and that makes it perfect for browsing the FIFA menus.
On Top of the World – Imagine Dragons (FIFA 13)
Imagine Dragons have lent their music to video games multiple times. They burst onto the scene when Radioactive played over the Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer and On Top of the World became part of the FIFA 13 soundtrack just a little later.
Wavin’ Flag – K’Naan (FIFA World Cup 2010)
Taking a slight departure from the core FIFA series, K’Naan’s Wavin’ Flag was the sound of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and was played throughout the spin-off game that was based on the tournament.
Untouched – The Veronicas (FIFA 09)
The final track in our set of the best FIFA songs is the second one from FIFA 09. The Veronicas’ Untouched stood out among the rest of the songs.
If you want to listen to our list of the best FIFA songs in its entirety, maybe while you’re playing another game or to replace the soundtrack in the FIFA you’re playing right now, we’ve put together a Spotify playlist and an Apple Music playlist in the same order.
