If you’ve finished uncovering the mystery of the Lental Region and beat the main story of the game, you may be wondering what you can do next. Fortunately, New Pokemon Snap is packed with plenty of content even after you’ve completed the main story. Whether you prefer snapping photos, editing them, exploring, or competing for high scores, there are extra things to do in the game to keep you busy. Explore New Areas

After the credits roll and you start up the game again, you’ll get some dialogue explaining that there are even more places opened up now for you to explore. If you’re looking for more things to discover, you’re in luck.

Specifically, Maricopia Reef can now be visited in the evening. This course is beautiful in the evening as the sun is hitting the water, and brand new Pokemon will start appearing there, including some fan favorites.

If you haven’t discovered all four seasons in Elsewhere Forest, this is another great place to discover new secrets. Different Pokemon appear during each season, so you’re sure to find something new each time.

Additionally, new branching paths become available in courses you’ve already visited. Try experimenting with the environment and Pokemon around you as you go through the courses. Don’t forget to upgrade your research level on each course to four (the maximum); this ensures all of the paths and Pokemon can be discovered.

One of the goals in the mainline Pokemon games is to “catch em all,” so a natural goal in New Pokemon Snap would be to “snap em all.” There are 214 unique Pokemon in the game, each one with its own Photodex page for you to complete.

If you’re only interested in photographing every Pokemon, you just have to take one picture of each. It’s not as easy as it sounds, though. Some are only available after you’ve completed the game, and some are hidden so well that they’re pretty difficult to find.

Perhaps the toughest Pokemon in the game to find are the legendaries or the ones that are located in hidden branching paths. There are also 20 different Vivillon patterns in the game to find, each one appearing in different locations and circumstances.

As mentioned above, take your time through the courses to use your camera and items in ways you normally wouldn’t. Some Pokemon can only be found by performing certain actions, such as playing a melody in a certain spot or lighting up certain Pokemon with Illumina Orbs.

If you manage to snap a photo of all 214 Pokemon in the game, you’ll unlock the research title “Genius Photographer” and a special filter to use when editing your pictures.

If photographing one of every Pokemon wasn’t enough for you, there’s an additional challenge for the most serious players: completing the Photodex.

The Photodex in New Pokemon Snap is a bit different than the one in the first game. Instead of just taking one photo of every Pokemon, each page on the Photodex has space for four photos. You can save a photo for one-star, two-star, three-star, and four-star ratings. A page isn’t considered complete until you have a photo for each star.

This is difficult because the number of stars have to do with how rare the behavior shown in the photo is. A one-star photo might be a picture of the Pokemon standing still, whereas a three- or four-star photo might be a picture of the Pokemon playing or fighting.

Some four-star photos pretty tricky to get photos of, so making it a goal to complete every page of the Photodex is a challenge that will keep you busy for many hours.

If you’re feeling really motivated, try to get diamond rank for each star, meaning the highest score possible for each photo.

If you didn’t use the online portion of New Pokemon Snap during your main playthrough of the game, it’s worth checking out. It’s not a perfect online system, but it has a few features that are pretty fun to play around with.

Every user has their own page that they can post their six favorite photos (and two that are automatically uploaded by the professor) to show off to the world. They can be edited photos from your personal album or ones you took for the Photodex.

You can check out your friends’ photo pages and see what kinds of pictures they’ve been taking. If you like their photos, you can give them Sweet Medals, which are basically the equivalent of likes on social media. Your own photos can also earn Sweet Medals, which can unlock research titles if you earn a lot of them.

You can also browse photos that people around the world are taking in categories such as trending and featured courses. If you’re worried about seeing pictures of Pokemon you haven’t discovered yet, there is an option in the game’s settings to hide undiscovered Pokemon.

Finally, the online leader boards can be sorted between top 100 players and friends, so you can see where you stand against the competition in categories like total Photodex score and course score.

Unlock All Filters, Frames, and Stickers

If you’re especially into the photo editing side New Pokemon Snap, you’ll want to unlock as many filters, frames, and stickers as possible to use in your creations. This will give you plenty of options for making your photos look exactly how you want them to.

You’ve probably unlocked a lot of these just from progressing naturally through the game, but it’s very likely that you’re missing many of them. You can unlock more by completing the research missions that are given to you by the other characters. Press Y on the game’s main menu to see all of the missions you’ve completed and the ones you’re yet to do.

Many missions are relatively easy, such as taking a photo of a Pichu in a field of flowers or a Ducklett in flight. Others are more difficult, such as getting two Pokemon to interact with each other or making a legendary Pokemon appear.

The research missions not only unlock filters, frames, and stickers for your photos, but they also provide helpful hints if you’re stuck on where to find a Pokemon or four-star behavior.

Get High Course Scores

After you beat the main story of the game, Professor Mirror informs you that he will now keep track of your highest collective score on each course. This means that after every run through a course, you’ll be given a score based on all of the photos you’ve taken, even if you don’t submit them for evaluation.

You can try to set your own personal highest scores for each course, or if you’re feeling particularly competitive, try to score high enough on the online leader boards. Online scores can be sorted by players worldwide and by people on your friends list. If you have a lot of friends, you can try to score higher than anyone else on your list on each course.

Challenging yourself to get the highest course score possible is a great way to learn the courses inside and out and see everything that New Pokemon Snap has to offer.
