Phasmophobia: How to Use the Crucifix

Developed by Kinetic Games, Phasmophobia is a new horror game that released in Steam early access just last month. This is a four-player cooperative ghost hunting game that requires you to explore haunted locales and correctly identify the kind of ghost you’re dealing with. Here’s how to use the crucifix in Phasmophobia.

Using the Crucifix in Phasmophobia

First things first, the crucifix is not a default or starter item that you’ll get in Phasmophobia. You’ll need to purchase it in the in-game store for $30, which means that you’ll likely have to clear a few levels first in order to get enough money for it. That said, it’s definitely recommended that you try to get some of the other essential tools first, such as the thermometer.

Once you have enough money for the crucifix, you can use it to protect yourself from ghosts before they enter hunting mode. Since the game never really explains how to use it, we’re here to help.

With the crucifix in your inventory, use the F key to place it on the floor in the ghost room. However, you need to place it before the ghost enters hunting mode in order for it to take effect. If the ghost is already in hunting mode, it’ll be too late and the crucifix will be useless. You’ll know the ghost is in hunting mode when your heartbeat becomes extremely audible and the doors are suddenly locked in whatever room you’re in.

If you manage to use the crucifix preemptively, the ghost will not be able to enter hunting mode and attack you. One other thing to note is that the crucifix is not a permanent item, and it’ll be disappear from your inventory after it’s been used correctly twice.

It’s recommended that you only start using it once your sanity level has dropped to around the 50 to 60% range, as that’s when the ghost will be more likely to be aggressive. You should also try to have some idea of what ghost type you’re dealing with before then, as you probably won’t need it if you’re dealing with a slightly less hostile type like the Shade.

That’s all you need to know about how to use the crucifix in Phasmophobia. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
