How to Play Music in Death Stranding

As you play through the game naturally, the soundtrack will occasionally kick in at key locations or during key points in the story. When a new track plays, the song title and artist will show up on the right-hand side of the screen.

Of course, you can also select your desired track from a music playlist as well. When in a Private Room, check the terminal, then press left on the d-pad to access the menu. Choose the Music Player option and you’ll see a list of available tracks, so just press X to select the track you want and start playing it.

You can also press the triangle button to change the repeat/loop mode.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you can access the music player when you’re out in the open world.

How to Get New Tracks

You’ll unlock new music tracks as you play through the game. For instance, when you progress through the story and a new track starts playing, it’ll automatically get added to your player when you reach the next safehouse.

However, you can also unlock new music tracks in Death Stranding by completing Orders. These include main and Standard Orders that you can get from the terminals across the various outposts in the open world, so you’ll want to knock as many of these out as possible to get all the tracks in the game.

To recap, here’s how to get and play music in Death Stranding:

  1. From a Private Room, check the terminal, then press left on the d-pad to access the main menu.

  2. Select the Music Player option, then choose the track you want to play.

You get new tracks by progressing through the story and as rewards for completing Orders.
