Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 has just launched for the Switch, marking the first time that the series has been exclusive to a single platform. The highlight of the game remains the same though. You can head out as your favorite Marvel hero to take on missions alongside up to three friends. Here’s how to play couch and online co-op multiplayer in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

Playing Couch Co-op Multiplayer

The first thing you need to do is head to the title menu and select the ‘co-op’ option there. To play couch co-op multiplayer, just select the offline option and then pair the controllers you want to use.

Once everyone is connected to the game, you can load into any of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s modes and you’ll both be able to play.

You can also start co-op while you’re playing the game at any time. All you have to do is press the + button on the controller you’re using to open to pause menu, the select the co-op option, and follow the same process as you would if you were starting from the game’s main menu.

How to Start Playing Online Co-op Multiplayer in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

If you’re wanting to play co-op multiplayer online though, pick the online option once you’ve gone to the co-op section from the main menu. Here, you can create a room (with a password if you want), search for a game, or join a friend’s room if they are currently playing.

You’re also able to set up a local connection between multiple switches, so that each person can play on their own handheld screen without having to play in splitscreen. You’ll see that option as the third on one the co-op section of the menu.

How to Play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Local Co-Op Using Wireless Play

Finally, you’re able to play co-op multiplayer in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 with up to three friends as long as you’re all in the same room. All you need to do is select ‘Co-Op’ from the main menu and then choose the ‘Local’ option.

After a while, yours and your friends’ Switches will be linked together and you’ll be all set to play multiplayer in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.
