Pearlescent weapons are some of the most difficult weapons to obtain, but they’re also the most powerful ones you can get your hands on. Here’s how to get Pearlescent weapons in Borderlands 2.

Because of the rarity of Pearlescent weapons, you might not even be at a stage in the game where you can obtain one of them. They’re late-game or end-game weapons, and they require an Ultimate Vault Hunter upgrade pack in order to spawn.

What They Are in Borderlands 2

Pearlescent weapons were first introduced to the world of Pandora with The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC back in Borderlands 1, where they are dropped by enemies like Crawmerax the Invincible, Badass Bruisers, Lance Pyros, Badass Engineers and Drifters.

These weapons do not appear outside of this DLC in Borderlands.

In Borderlands 2, they are the highest-rarity weapons in the game and they require an Ultimate Vault Hunter upgrade pack to spawn.

Pearlescent weapons, or Cyan weapons, are basically just extremely powerful and rare weapons. They are a pearly-white/cyan color, hence the name, and they usually come packed with some awesome traits.

Borderlands 2 had two Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack DLCs drop. They came at a cost, naturally, but that doesn’t matter as most people playing Borderlands 2 these days are doing so through the Handsome Collection, which includes all DLC.

This means that you already have both Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Packs.

With these packs, you must switch your game difficulty from whatever you’re on to Ultimate Vault Hunter mode. This is the most challenging difficulty in the game.

Once you’ve done that, a Pearlescent weapon can drop at any time from any enemy. However, for an increased chance of one of these weapons dropping, fight Legendary Loot Midgets, Tubby enemies and the final boss in Digistruct Peak.

They can also be obtained via the slot machine in Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade 2 Pack DLC brings another set of Pearlescent weapons into the game. These weapons can only be dropped by Tubby enemies of level 61 or higher.

What’s Different About Them

Pearlescent weapons are a cross of Unique and Legendary weapons. Like Legendary weapons, they have both a title and prefix.

These weapons can only be as high in level as level 68 so don’t expect to see one drop beyond that.

Similar to Legendary weapons, these guns carry with them unique traits that make these guns what they are. For example, the Bearcat is a grenadier-type weapon that comes with an increased grenade count and a reduced ammo consumption.
