Here’s everything you need to know about how to inspect your weapon in Black Ops 4.

While, for the most part, you’ll want to have your weapons facing away from you and squarely on your target, sometimes you might just want to get a closer look at the weapons you’re using. The Inspect Weapons feature has returned once more in Treyarch’s Black Ops 4, allowing players to appreciate the finer details of their weaponry in the middle of a battle.

There’s no real benefit to doing this, but for those who love to marvel at the intricate details on the digital weapons in Black Ops 4, there’s no better option. So without further ado, here’s how to inspect your weapon in Black Ops 4.

First things first, the way you’ll inspect weapons in the game will depend on what mode your playing. If you’re in Multiplayer you can simply press left on the d-pad. Don’t hold this button, as if you do, it’ll open up the different emotes and sprays that you have available to you.

However, a simple tap will result in your character taking out the clip, and giving your gun a basic once over. It doesn’t freeze the game around you, obviously, with it being online, so we don’t recommend you go inspecting your weapon in the middle of a firefight or a busy area.

If you find that when you inspect your weapon in Black Ops 4 that you spot an enemy or need to move quickly. Simply pressing down on the left analog stick (clicking it in to press L3) will cause you to sprint and stop inspecting your weapon. That’s all there is to it.

It’s worth noting, however, that you cannot inspect weapons in Black Ops 4 Zombies or the battle royale mode, Blackout. Left on the d-pad is assigned to your various temporary power-ups that come with your class in Zombies, while the d-pad is used for Quick Equip and your sprays and emotes in Blackout.

If you really want to inspect weapons from Black Ops 4 Zombies, you can always select the Armory option at the bottom of the mode’s menu screen. You won’t be able to check any old weapon from the mode, but any you’ve bought from a wall or got your hands on in the game you can have a look at. Select the unlocked weapon you want to take a closer look at, and use the right analog stick to change your viewing angle. Though, we’ll admit, it’s pretty limited.

Outside of that, there’s not a whole lot more you need to know to inspect weapons in Black Ops 4. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding Black Ops 4 wiki.
