Furthering themselves from the linear history of Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider series, each entry in the recent reboot series is adding more and more elements that you’d traditionally associate with open world games. Lara Croft is also an iconic character with an iconic look, with certain outfits being synonymous with her. However, when you jump into Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you may start to wonder if you can change character appearance in the game, to make Lara look different to how you’d expect her to. Well, here’s everything you need to know about whether or not you can change character appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

You’ll be happy to hear that, yes, you can change character appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In fact, you unlock the ability to change how Lara looks pretty early in the game, after about two hours or so of the main story. Once you’ve unlocked the ability to do so, you’ll need to head to any base camp you’ve established to make any changes you want to make to her clothing and appearance.

Then, to change character appearance, you can switch out what Lara is wearing on the bottom and top halves of her body, choosing from a selection of unlocked items. You can also change Lara’s entire appearance by switching out the default outfits for some others that are based on those from previous, classic games, before Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the rest of the reboot series. Simply select them from the outfits menu and the base camp and you’ll change character appearance for when you continue to play.
