JANUARY 2018 PS4 VIDEO GAME RELEASES
(WEEKS ONE-FOUR: DEC. 1-31)
The first month of 2018 is a bit of a mixed bag for video games. Sadly, there isn’t anything releasing on PS4 in the first two weeks, but this does give you a chance to catch up. Surely, after the torrent of releases in 2017 there’s quite a few things to catch up on. At the same time, this is also a good opportunity to save up for the busy last two weeks of January.
Things kick off on Jan. 16 with the release of Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, letting you jump into the game with all updates and added characters if you never picked it up in the first place. The week has some good offerings for fans of Japanese games with the anime-based Gintama Rumble, and two different JRPGs.
The end of the month, however, is when things really fall into place. Dragon Ball FighterZ and Monster Hunter: World release on the same day. Two very different games offering very different experiences, but sure to please a majority of gamers between the two of them. If that’s not enough the PS4 gets its first big exclusive at the end of the month with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a console port of the original arcade game released in Japan.
Jan. 2018 may be a bit slower than past years, but there’s still a healthy offering coming in the second half of the month. There’s plenty more ahead in the following months, so it might be a good things that we start off on a slower note.
