Starting with a couple of honorable mentions, check out the Twinfinite’s Staff picks for our best games of November 2017 which includes of course, our Game of the Month!
Associate Editor Hayes Madsen:Â Final Fantasy XV has seen a wealth of content added over the last year, but one of the strangest pieces is Monster of the Deep, a VR fishing experience in the world of XV. Fishing in the main game was surprisingly fun in the main game, and the same holds true for Monster of the Deep. It has some of your typical VR issues like some muddy textures and finicky controls with casting your line, but when everything works Monster of the Deep is a blast. This is especially true for the over-the-top boss battles with daemonfish that have you blasting them with a crossbow, before reeling them in.
For any fans of Final Fantasy XV, getting to insert yourself into the world of Eos is a real treat, seeing Noctis and crew face to face. Monster of the Deep may have some control issues, but it’s a unique experience through and through.
The Best Games of November 2017
Honorable Mention: Battlefront II

Associate Editor Hayes Madsen:Â Â With The Last Jedi releasing in December, there was a lot of excitement for a brand new Star Wars game with Star Wars Battlefront II. Battlefront II improves upon many aspects of the first game, opting for a class-based system instead of a build your own character type of thing. At the same time, the game now encompasses all three Star Wars eras and not just the original trilogy. New, more focused multiplayer modes like Galactic Assault and Starfighter Assault are the big focuses in Battlefront II, and they do a great job at evoking that feeling of a massive Star Wars battle. At the same time single player fans have more to look forward to as well, with a short but enjoyable campaign about Iden Versio, an elite Imperial squad leader.
Sadly, for everything Battlefront II does well much of the conversation has been around EA’s intrusive use of loot boxes in the game. The progression system implemented in Battlefront II is a bit of a mess, and one that takes a lot of time to really unlock everything, even with the use of real world money.
While these elements don’t ruin the experience of Battlefront II, they certainly do detract, that much is obvious from the fan backlash on the game. EA definitely has work to do on the game’s progression system and loot elements, which they’re adjusting as we speak. Hopefully, those elements can be nailed down further in the future to strengthen the engaging core gameplay present in Battlefront II.
The Best Game of November 2017: Call of Duty: WWII

News Editor Brittany Vincent:Â For the last few years, the Call of Duty series opted to look to the future instead of the past for its frenetic brand of first-person shooter. This year, Sledgehammer Games took it back to the past and the series’ roots in World War II with Call of Duty: WWII. It simultaneously offered a somber and serious look at the war through the eyes of relatable protagonists with some seriously heart-pounding moments for its single-player campaign, and a rollicking multiplayer mode that both streamlined and expanded upon the series’ previous endeavors. Despite somewhat kitschy and silly microtransaction decisions and growing pains with online multiplayer, it delivered a complete experience for anyone looking for the cinematic quality of a Call of Duty game with the sincerity of a war flick.
It also managed to revamp the Call of Duty: Zombies franchise in one of the best ways possible since the series’ debut in Call of Duty: World at War, doffing the B-movie schlock of the previous installments and heading down a road that’s not unlike the shock-horror flick Frankenstein’s Army. With grotesque monsters and experiments roaming around, the Zombies mode calls to mind some of the most terrifying horror movies around rather than Elvira and a bunch of teenagers screaming and running for their lives.
These three parts combined to make a Call of Duty game that was well worth the wait, and a welcome return to an era that made the original game such an excellent one to begin with.

That does it for our November 2017 Game of the Month. Congratulations to Call of Duty: WWII! What do you think were the best games from last month? Let us know in the comments.
