Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Dec. 1)
The biggest Nintendo Switch game to look out for in December 2017 is definitely going to be Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It’s the console’s headlining title for the month and it’s a massive open world title that JRPG fans should keep an eye out for. Though it is part of the larger Xeno game series, you don’t have to play the previous games to enjoy this one.
Taking place in a large open world sat on top titan monsters, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 features a new cast of characters, along with a protagonist named Rex who’s searching for something called Elysium. Like most open world games these days, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has interconnected environments and a dynamic day and night cycle, as well as a multitude of side quests that you can tackle along your way.
The time cycle will affect your quest progression as well, and if you’re a fan of open world games, this could be a good one to keep you occupied over the holidays.
Human Fall Flat (Dec. 7)
Human Fall Flat is an indie multiplayer game that’s already been released on other platforms, and it’ll be coming to the Switch on Dec. 7. The premise is pretty simple. Players will take control of a character named Bob who can interact with any surface and environment in the game world. These mechanics will help you solve several environmental puzzles to progress.
The best thing about the game is that you can play it with a friend as well to spice things up. Human Fall Flat supports local co-op and multiplayer, there are several levels to tackle, and the game also boasts pretty good replay value with multiple ways to complete the puzzle offerings.
Teslagrad (Dec. 7)
Teslagrad is yet another gorgeous indie game that’s hitting the Switch in December. The game is set in a steampunk version of Europe, and the hand-drawn art style is beautiful to look at. With a king that’s ruling over the land with an iron fist, players will take control of a young boy to unravel a conspiracy.
What’s special about Teslagrad is that there’s no written or spoken dialogue in the game, and most of the storytelling is told through visual cues and other objects that you’ll have to look for yourself. Teslagrad is full of environments for you to explore, puzzles to solve, and unique bosses to beat. If you love good music in your games, Teslagrad’s also got a great soundtrack to accompany your adventure.
The End Is Nigh (Dec. 12)
The End Is Night is the latest indie game release from Edmund McMillen, the creator of Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy, which means that you can expect a pretty deep game crammed with interesting secrets and Easter eggs to discover.
The game puts you in the shoes of Ash, a being who’s somehow survived the end of the world, and you must now send him through over 600 platforming levels on an epic adventure. There are over 12 chapters in the game, with a ton of levels for you to conquer. There are also tons of collectibles, as well as hidden minigames that you can uncover along the way.
There are also hidden endings to unlock, so you can expect to sink a serious ton of time into this game once you get into it.
