Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris

Destiny 2’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, is set to release in just over a month on Dec. 5. Despite whetting fans’ appetites for more footage yesterday during Sony’s Paris Games Week media showcase, developer Bungie is still being tight-lipped about what exactly we can expect to see when the DLC finally arrives. Here’s everything we know so far.

Though it’s quite obvious given the name, the first Destiny 2 expansion will take place after the events of the main game and focus on a never-before-seen character called Osiris. Considered the most powerful Warlock ever to live (who just so happens to be part of the Dawnblade subclass, mind you), fans did get to learn about him both in the original Destiny and its sequel, though this will be the first time players will get to meet the Guardian in the flesh. Osiris has gone missing, and it’s up to fans to try and rescue him with the help of the Warlock’s former student, Ikora Rey, and the man’s Ghost companion, Sagira (voiced by Morena Baccarin of Firefly fame), who each guide players through both space and time.

Aside from the aforementioned Warlock Vanguard Ikora Rey, Brother Vance is also set to return. Vance served as the Trials of Osiris vendor in the Vestian Outpost in the original Destiny and is a member of the Osiris cult. In Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, however, he serves a crucial role in finding Osiris, as he’s the one who shows players the way on the Infinite Forest on Mercury.

Retrieving Osiris is vital in that finding the Warlock is key in preventing an onslaught of Vex from destroying humanity. Indeed, Vex from across various timelines have begun streaming out of a mysterious ancient portal on Mercury, having nothing but human xenocide on their mind. It’s fortunate that Osiris appears to be taking refuge on the very same planet, though it remains to be seen if the two phenomena are related somehow. If anything, players are guaranteed to learn more about the Vex, which up until now haven’t been delved into substantially.
