FFXIV Stormblood: How to Swim and Unlock Diving
Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, just as Heavensward did, adds an entirely new way to traverse FFXIV’s brand new areas. In addition to flying, now you’ll be able to dive underwater yourself in addition to using one of your flying mounts from Heavensward and A Realm Reborn.
You can swim right away upon beginning Stormblood. In certain bodies of water in older areas and any prominent body of water in the new areas, all you need to do is simply walk into the water, and once you reach an area with enough depth,  you’ll start swimming and floating in ways you weren’t previously able to do. You can also use sprint action to rapidly swim across the surface just as you would do on land.
Diving in FFXIV: Stormblood is a different beast than swimming entirely. You need to unlock the ability to dive in-game. In order to unlock diving, you’ll need to progress in the main quest up to “In Soroban We Trust.”
After you’ve unlocked the action, it’s just like flying in Heavensward. You can dive deeper or return to the surface the same way you would while flying (using whatever your ascend/descend button is on your platform of choice).  For the PS4 it’s triangle/circle. On PC it’s control/spacebar.
That just about does it for How to Swim and Dive in FFXIV: Stormblood. Make sure to explore the depths of the new areas, and go back and visit some other older areas as well. Whip out that new float emote at Costa del Sol and catch some rays!
