Just like you could in Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair offers players a ton of different skills that can be used to help them out during the Class Trials. Whether it’s increasing your reticle speed, or giving you more time for each section, these skills can be particularly handy if you find the challenge getting a little too tough in the later trials of the game.

As such, it’s a good idea to know not just what skills are out there but how you can get them all. Well, fear not, we’ve put together a full list just below for you. Oh, and if you’re looking for a list of all skills for Trigger Happy Havoc, be sure to check out our separate guide for that here.

Monomi’s Store

How to Get All Skills in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

There are three different ways you can get skills in Goodbye Despair, and Hope Fragments are crucial in all of them. First off, you can buy 19 Skills from Monomi by clicking on her icon in your report card option of your e-handbook. This is basically a store where you can trade any Hope Fragments you’ve collected from the environment or by talking to students. We’ve listed all of the skills available in Goodbye Despair from Monomi’s store, including their effect and cost in Hope Fragments (in parenthesis) below.

Downshift (1) – Improves your Hangman’s Gambit and effectiveness during Nonstop Debate. Also reduces your aiming speed. Cannot be combined with Upshift.

Upshift (1) – Increases your aiming speed. Effective during the Nonstop Debate and the (Improved) Hangman’s Gambit. Cannot be combined with Downshift.

Raise Your Pet Right (or Wrong)

How to Get All Skills in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

One of the new additions in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is the Pet you’ll take care of that lives inside your e-handbook. By taking steps and walking around the islands rather than fast traveling, players will evolve their pet. However, how you raise your pet will ultimately have an effect on the kind of pet you get. If you shower it with gifts and clean up its poop as soon as it appears, you’ll raise your pet’s Hope level. Leave it to wallow in its own filth and basically abandon it, and its Despair level will soar.

In order to get the Tranquility skill, you’ll need to get Monokuma as your pet. He needs a Hope level of nine or 10, and a Despair level between six and nine. Once you’ve got Monokuma the skill will unlock. Tranquility completely steadies your aim and is effective during the Nonstop Debate and the Hangman’s Gambit. But do note, it cannot be combined with Calm and Composed.

To get the Menacing Focus skill, you’ll need to get Monomi as your pet. The kinder cuddly creature in Danganronpa 1.2 Reload needs the same nine or 10 Hope level as Monokuma, but a far lower Despair level of anywhere between nothing to five. Menacing Focus greatly increases your Focus Gauge and is effective during the entirety of Class Trials. It cannot be combined with Extraordinary Focus.

Student Report Cards

How to Get All Skills in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

The final method you’ll need to get all skills in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is by speaking to students during Free Time and furthering your relationships with them. You can use presents to speed the process along, too, just make sure it’s definitely a present that they’ll like or be interested in. Once you’ve collected all of the Hope Fragments from one character in Free Time, you’ll notice the star-shaped icon next to their name will be completely filled and colored gold. This is how you’ll know you’ve unlocked their skill.

Below, we’ve listed each student, the name of the skill that can be obtained from completing their Report Card, and what it does.

Peko Pekoyama – Lightning Flash – All counterattacks will become “raging.” Effective during Rebuttal Showdown.

Mikan Tsumiki – Silent Massage – The Focus Gauge recovers at a faster rate. Effective during the Nonstop Debate, the Hangman’s Gambit, and the Panic Talk Action.

Teruteru Hanamura – Tasting – Reduces an argument to three statements or less. Effective during the Nonstop Debate and the Rebuttal Showdown.

Gundham Tanaka – Infinity Unlimited Flame – Increases the power of your silencer. Effective during the Nonstop Debate. Cannot be combined with Cheat Code.
