Inventory management is very important in We Happy Few. You can only carry so much, and while it’s always a good idea to pick up every single usable item you see, you will sometimes come across a better item that you need to make room for. In order to do that, you’ll need to toss an item. Thankfully, tossing an item in We Happy Few is easy.

All you need to do is open up the inventory tab in your menu, it’s the one with the hanger symbol. Highlight the item you want to be rid of and hold down the “Y” button on your Xbox controller. This will drop the item, freeing up room in your inventory. Now you can pick up that better weapon/food/drink/tool you just stumbled upon. If you’re on PC, you can tap the G key to throw away the item, or hold it down to throw away entire stacks.

Keep in mind that the game does not pause when you access these menus. The only way to actually pause the game is to hit pause, anything else will keep We Happy Few running in the background. That means you are still open for threats to attack so never try try to rid yourself of unwanted gear in the middle of a fight or any other sticky situations.

You can also physically throw items in the game. When you come across glass bottles or rocks, you can hit the F key to aim it, and then left-click to throw the item. This can distract enemy sentries, and allow you to sneak past them easily.
