Can You Play Warzone 2 Without MW2?

All New Gameplay Changes Coming to Warzone 2.0 Explained

To answer the question, yes you can play Warzone 2 without MW2. Warzone 2.0 is a separate experience, free for all players on all platforms, that can be downloaded from your store of choice. Conversely, if you own MW2, you can select it straight from the in-game menus.

Much like its predecessor, Warzone 2.0 can be played through a separate application that can be installed on your platform of choice. Simply head to the store client you use, search up Warzone 2.0, and it’ll be an option to install. However, it appears that if you do not own MW2, Warzone 2.0 takes up more storage space on your platform of choice. A quick point to note is that owning MW2 will give you a slight edge over the competition, as you’ll gain access to the multiplayer portion for customization purposes.

This is all you need to know on whether or not you need MW2 to play Warzone 2.0. Speaking of size, check out how much storage Warzone 2.0 will take on your head drive, new changes coming to Warzone, and the all new DMZ mode.

Proud weeb hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long-standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality), MMORPGs, and visual novels are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.

I love almost every type of video game, and when I'm not playing them, I'm writing about them... a lot. I have too many favorites to list so feel free to ask about them! Long live Ugly Sonic and the Resident Evil 3 Remake (this is a meme btw).
