How to Beat Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Elden Ring

Lurking within the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave, this enemy poses a real danger with the Bloodhound Fang Curved Greatsword. He can also teleport around the arena, and deal heavy damage with slashing combos.

However, there are still certain weaknesses that players can exploit to beat this optional fight. First, Darriwil has very low poise, so instead of letting him attack you constantly, successive heavy attacks can easily stagger this opponent, opening the Bloodhound Knight up for a painful critical hit.

Secondly, his attacks are easy to recognize. Bloodhound Knight Darriwil will get close, and swing his sword for two to three attacks, before scurrying away. The best way to make him pay is to master the skill of parrying, and return the favor with a critical hit followed by a strong attack.

Perhaps the biggest danger is Darriwil’s ability to teleport, so in a sense, there is not much room for safety in the arena. Always be on guard as the distance can be closed in an instant, and as much as possible, roll to safety instead of trying to block his incessant attacks that cause bleeding. Should you need to heal, it is best to do so after dodging while Darriwil is still stuck in his combo.

Enlist the Help of Blaidd the Half-Wolf

If you are still having trouble, you can count on the aid of a powerful ally to take down this foe as part of Blaidd the Half-Wolf’s questline. First, head to Mistwood Ruins to hear some strange howling, then head back to the Church of Elleh. The merchant Kalé will show you the Finger Snap gesture, which can be used to summon Blaidd when used at the ruins.

Exhaust the dialogue and you will learn that he is on the hunt for Bloodhound Knight Darriwil as well. Enter the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, and you will find a summoning sign next to you that will have Blaidd join the battle.
