Animal Crossing New Horizons gives players the chance to take a virtual break from the trials and tribulations of everyday life in the real world. Sit down with your Switch and be whisked away to a remote island where you can catch fish and bugs, dig up fossils, befriend the animal locals and help turn the island into a thriving tourist spot. Things start off slowly, though, and you’ll notice there are parts of your island on the other side of rivers or up cliffs that you seemingly can’t reach. As such, you may be wondering if you can jump in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Can You Jump Across Rivers or Up Cliffs in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
Unfortunately, we’ve got to be the bearers of bad news on this one. You cannot jump at all in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Instead you will need to rely on various tools you’ll acquire during the opening week or two on your island before you can get across rivers and climb cliffs to reach the higher areas of your island.
Specifically, you’ll need to get the vaulting pole in order to jump across rivers to begin with. You can eventually build bridges to help you get across rivers more easily, too.
To climb up cliffs and reach those elevated areas of your island in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you’ll need to build your own ladder via a recipe you can get from Tom Nook. This doesn’t become available until you’ve built and placed the first bridge on your island, so keep this in mind.
That’s everything you need to know on whether you can jump across rivers or climb up cliffs. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our Animal Crossing New Horizons wiki, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
