The FIFA 22 trainer is a handy option to have enabled if you’re completely new to the soccer series, but if you’re not, it can be a distraction in the game that you could do without. In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to turn the trainer off in FIFA 22.
Turning Off Trainer in FIFA 22
To turn off the trainer in FIFA 22, pause the game when the match starts by pressing Options on PS4 or the Menu button on Xbox One. You can then select the ‘Trainer’ tile and change the status to ‘Hide’ to turn it off.
If you choose to turn it back on, simply pause the game, select the ‘Trainer’ tile and change the status to ‘Show.’
If you do this in any of FIFA 22’s online modes, it’ll save your preferences so you won’t have to do it every match. But if you’re playing a Kick Off match with a friend, you’ll both need to turn the trainer off each time you start up FIFA 22.
You can also turn off the Trainer in FIFA 22 by heading to the ‘Customize’ option from the main menu and then selecting ‘Controller Settings.’
Here, you’ll find the ‘FIFA Trainer’ option. Simply change this to ‘Hide’ rather than show to turn the trainer off in FIFA 22.
What Is the Trainer?
The trainer is essentially FIFA’s in-game tutorial. As you play, a little semi-transparent box appears next to the player you’re controlling in a match.
At different times, it’ll suggest you do different things. For example, if you’re on the attack, it might suggest playing a through ball with Y on Xbox One/ Xbox Series X|S or Triangle on PS4/ PS5 to put your striker into a one vs one situation with the keeper.
If you’re defending, the trainer will suggest that you make a standing or sliding tackle to recover possession and put your team back on the offensive.
This can be useful for beginners looking to find their feet in a series whose online modes are often dominated by seasoned pros.
