Chernobylite features a semi-open world, allowing you to control Igor throughout multiple different missions that take you to different places on the map you can explore. While you’re out in that would, you’ll need to stay on your toes to make sure you don’t get killed by the enemies that make up this hazardous wasteland, using everything from guns to traps to survive. Here is everything you need to know about how to use traps in Chernobylite.
The first thing you should know is that traps can only be used when you are on missions. Alongside this, know that there are six different types of traps that can be used in Chernobylite: Fireworks, Laster Explosive, Landmine, Electroshocking, Assimilating, and Directional. Each one of these can be used in different situations.

Since these can only be used in missions, you’ll create traps using the crafting menu while out in the field. Open up your crafting menu by pressing B on your keyboard or the back button on Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
As soon as you do, the trap menu will open with the following options:
|Traps in Chernobylite|
|Fireworks||1 Electronic Part, 1 Flammable Part||Distraction trap that lures humans and monsters away.|
|Laser Explosive||1 Electronic Part, 1 Flammable Part||Triggered like tripwire, exploding when set off.|
|Landmine||2 Flammable Part||Explodes when stepped on.|
|Electroshocking||1 Electronic Part, 1 Flammable Part||Causes electrifying damange to humans.|
|Assimilating||1 Herb, 1 Checmical||Steals energy from monsters.|
|Directional||1 Mechanical Part, 1 Electronic Part, 1 Flammable Part||Works as a turret, auto-firing at humans and monsters.|
Any time you’re about to place down one of these traps, its area of effect will be shown beforehand, allowing you to plan the best spots to place them strategically. These items will come in handy for more difficult missions, especially on higher difficulties.
