Watch Dogs Legion: How to Change Characters & Operatives

Developed and published by Ubisoft, Watch Dogs Legion is the third entry in the sci-fi open-world series, and it features a pretty unique gameplay system that sets it apart from its predecessors. Instead of having a single set protagonist that you follow throughout the entire story, players can now recruit several NPCs to DedSec and play as any of them. Here’s how to change characters and operatives in Watch Dogs Legion.

Changing Characters and Operatives in Watch Dogs Legion

As you play through the game, you’ll naturally get more characters on your roster and you’ll be able to switch between them pretty much whenever you want. In fact, you’ll definitely want to do that as every operative has a different set of skills that you can take advantage of.

Some specialize in hand-to-hand combat, some are great with hacking electronics, and others are better with ranged weapons. Because of this, you’ll want to switch between them often, especially as you come up against a range of different missions that may require a different set of abilities.

To change characters, bring up the menu by pressing the touchpad on PS4 or with the View button on Xbox One. Head over to the Team tab, and you’ll see a whole list of characters that you currently have on your team.

Use the left stick to select the one you want to switch to, then hold the square button to switch to them, or the X button on Xbox One. You’ll get a quick loading screen before you take control of your new character, and you’re good to go.

It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to switch characters in the middle of a mission, if you’re in combat or on the run from the police, or if you’re in a restricted area on the map. Aside from that, feel free to switch away.
