Season 5 of Modern Warfare begins tomorrow, and you’ll want to get the big update file downloaded as soon as possible. For the first time, how and when you can do so changes depending on what system you’re playing on. So that you’re ready for the launch time, here’s everything you need to know about how to download the Modern Warfare Season 5 update.
While the update is coming in at around the 36GB mark, the overall file size of Modern Warfare should decrease a little, whether you’re playing the full version or the free Warzone version. Therefore, while you’ll be downloading a big file, you shouldn’t lose any space on your system of choice.
How to Download Season 5 Update for Modern Warfare
What we’re going to do below is break the instructions down by system since they’re quite different.
PS4
For the first time ever, you are able to preload the Modern Warfare Season 5 update on PlayStation 4. All players should now be able to do so by pressing Options on the game’s tile on the dashboard and selecting ‘Check for Update.’
Then, the download should begin and you’ll be able to see its progress in the notifications tab on your system.
However, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to jump into the update as soon as it has downloaded. The file won’t actually install until 2 am ET on Aug. 5, so you’ll have to wait for a little at that time for the process to complete.
Xbox One & PC
For Xbox One and PC, the process to download the Modern Warfare Season 5 update is the same as always. You’ll need to wait until 2 am ET on Wednesday, Aug. 5 for the update to be available.
At that point, you’ll be able to start the download and install it before jumping into the new content. The pre-load feature is only available on PS4, so you cannot do it on Xbox One or PC.
The update should download automatically if you have enough space on your system, but if not, select the game and check if there’s an update available to download.
