How to Dive in Animal Crossing New Horizons

The new diving mechanic in Animal Crossing New Horizons lets you explore the ocean to discover new sea critters. To do this, you’ll first need to get a wetsuit.

After you’ve downloaded and installed the new update, head over to Nook’s Cranny and check the cabinet for a wetsuit. You can purchase it for 3,000 bells, and once you’ve equipped it, you can start exploring the water.

Head over to the beach and go to the edge of the water, then press the A button to jump in and start swimming. Once in the water, press the B button to dive underwater. Whenever you see bubbles on the surface, dive and move towards them to catch a sea critter. You don’t have to press anything to catch them, just touch them.

Just like regular bugs and fish, these critters can be donated to Blathers at the museum to expand your collection. At the moment, it doesn’t seem like Flick or CJ can turn them into models.

You can only go underwater for a few seconds before you run out of breath, though, and your character will automatically resurface once your time is up. To get out of the water, just go back to the beach and your character will hop back to land.

That’s all you need to know about how to dive underwater and swim in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
