The book, which was teased back in January, will be released on Friday, March 13, and you can find the listing already available on Steam for your wishlisting purposes.

The book was originally published in Japan with the title “Muv-Luv Alternative Integral Works” and then included among the bonuses provided to high-tier backers during the Kickstarter campaign that allowed the localization of the games.

When I say it’s “crazy” I mean it. It’s basically a 412-page Bible full of content going much beyond the usual artbook (albeit it does contain plenty of awesome art). Basically, it includes all the knowledge and lore about the super-deep Muv-Luv alternative universe built over about fifteen years of games, all focused in one place.

You can find technical details about the game’s mecha and BETA aliens, military units, insignia, and basically everything you would expect from the most advanced military publications (but three or four times as thick), on top of interviews to the creators and much more.

A few months ago, I wrote an article describing the depth and charm of the Muv-Luv universe, and this book is the perfect example of that. It truly shows how much thought and detail creator Kouki Yoshimune and the development team at âge put into building the world behind their games.

If you want to learn about it much beyond what the games offer, this is just the perfect way.

Below you can read an official description and see a few page samples.

“The digital PDF version of the Muv-Luv Alternative CODEX. Experience the deepest world in gaming history in a whole new way, with the deepest guidebook ever made! Dive deep into the world of the game with over 400 pages, stuffed with information that’s not available anywhere else! Follow the complete history of the war against the BETA: their ecology, their numbers, and the threat they pose to humanity. See how humanity fights back with almost 100 pages of detailed technical data on the Tactical Surface Fighters: the giant robots mankind pilots to combat the alien invaders.”

  • A massive 400+ pages of detail about the world of Muv-Luv in .pdf format!
  • Used by the game’s writers as an official reference manual!
  • A level of detail that’s never been seen before in a guidebook. Want to know what year the Type-81 TSA Wadatsumi was deployed? Or what it means when a member of the Royal Guard wears a yellow suit? It’s all here!
  • Interviews with the original creator and mech designer, a detailed timeline, and even more unbelievable content!

“There’s also pages of data on tactics and weapons, special art, descriptions of the world’s governments and politics: a level of detail never before seen in an official guidebook.

The game that broke all the rules now brings you a guidebook that breaks all the rules!”

Pricing details have not been announced at the moment.

Incidentally, Yoshimune-san recently revealed an updated version of another relevant image board for Muv-Luv Integrateexplained another showcasing a few custom TSF, one showing a dire situation in New York, and another focusing on heroines from past games, and one focusing on Yuuko Kouzuki.

We also have a detailed report of the 20th-anniversary event recently hosted in Tokyo, which was rich with announcements, including the reveal of Muv-Luv Integrate, the announcement of the action game code-named Project Mikhail, an update on Muv-Luv Unlimited The Day After and on the Android version of the original trilogy, the tease of the reboot of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and the announcement of the Muv-Luv Alternative anime.

âge will be attending Comiket in May, promising more news about its upcoming games.
